Welcome to Tigers: Jason Castagna

Tremendous servant and premiership hero… but if u can’t regularly .. and I mean regularly…kick those goals playing as a small fwd then surely there is no place in the side anymore. It’s a momentum killer and ultimately can cost you a game along the way.

The momentum killers are when he is lining for a goal, turns his back on the goal and trys to kick a coach killer.

on principle how can you forgive him for not taking the shot from 35m out in the clear. That's the issue......I would put anyone in instead of George just on principle. but hey he may play and kick 3 goals. Thats George.
That's the problem though. Georgie did play n had the chance to kick four goals but *smile* up every opportunity. Poor bugger might just as well have played the whole game with his eyes closed, he had no *smile* idea what the hell he was doing out there. For a bloke who's 25 n played 130 games, four finals series it wasn't just a simple one off bad game or even bad moment. His performances were regularly chaotic at best but have been deteriorating for two years to horrifyingly shambolic.

We need the expected score metric for Castagna.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he averaged a goal a game under his expected score. Which would be the opposite of elite.

That should be enough to sign seal and stamp his papers unless he fixes it.

The hardest thing (for most) as an afl level forward is it to be able to get enough of it. If you can do that you should be golden. I used to hope he would fix it but it seems he can’t.

I just re-watched that passage of play for the miss in the last.
It is actually worse now on second viewing. I even replayed it multiple times to see if I was missing something. Nah…….major FUBAR.
Takes possession with plenty of time to settle and kick the goal from 25.
Instead runs too far and unbelievably with zero awareness of the player approaching from his left (who would have clearly been in his peripheral vision), decides to kick directly into the approaching player.
It is at this point, a more polished player would have realised the error and made the easy handball to the running Cumberland who could have run into the goal square, putting it beyond doubt, whilst the GCS player lies strewn on the turf with a failed smother.
I……
CANT…..
Even……….

Will be hilarious (or maybe not) to see the blow ups if he gets selected again this week - which I think is very possible.

Do we need to get Georgie security ?:ROFLMAO:
I’m confident the security bloke would offer more than castagna. Play him and give George his uniform

Yep George scaled new heights of ineptitude with that complete fail that lost us the game.

Do you reckon if he faked the kick and the gc player is lying On the ground that a) he handpasses it over Cumberland’s head for a point. B) he manages to run too far without bouncing for a free or c) touches on the ground then shanks it from 5m out?

I've rewatched it also, and the whole calamity sums up his lack of football smarts. He plays like a Category B rookie that has just taken up football. It's like he has to concentrate so hard on his kicking that it's in slow motion and with zero awareness around him whilst he's doing it.

The only possible defence for him is that if Cumberland provided a minor shepherd, it would have bought him the extra half second (that he shouldn't have needed anyway) to kick the goal. But that's being way too forgiving for what was an embarrassing moment for George, Dimma and the Match Committee who keep selecting him.

If ever there was one piece of play that could end a player’s career, surely this must be it. There is no way in hell he should be selected again, especially next week!!

If Cumberland shepherded George would’ve kept running and kicked ball after the goal line the ump would then call it as a behind

The opportunities are endless.

On a couple of occasions today his lead up for a set shot on goal included walking with his back to goals, and then only glancing back towards the goal for a split second before quickly turning around and snapping for goal like he was performing some sort of party trick.

It’s as if he didn’t want to spend too much time looking at the goals in fear of freaking out.

This is not the behaviour of someone that has a grip on what they are doing.

I don’t want to disrespect him; I just want him gone.
Perfect summation.
We love him but it's time.
