Welcome to Tigers: Jason Castagna

I think it's all gotten a bit one way traffic on here.

We need Carter to explain that no one who critiques Castagna watches football, and that he's elite at standing on the fat side of the ground.

He had a horror night (year) in front of the sticks (was good and got involved around the ground - Mozzie could learn from that).

His whole routine when having a shot is well shot. Think back previously - and whilst never Darren Jarman he always had a set out routine that made him serviceable in that area - particularly in big moments. He's all over the shop now and TBH can't be persevered with until he sorts that out (if ever).

But will say four things:

- Admire the fact that despite obviously being mentally gone in that area he constantly puts himself back in the firing line by constantly presenting (when others don't). Most footballers would go completely into their shell.
- Unfort his understudies like Noah and Mozzie are also poor by foot (Noah will give us similar nightmares with his ball drop)
- George *smile* up with 5 mins left. Where is the similar heat on Short thread who didn't just have a skill error but consciously, deliberately and selfishly knocked the ball out of his opponents hands and reduced a 17 point lead to 11 with 3 minutes left. If he wasn't thinking of himself we win - Surely that is a worse crime.
- Am all for having our least liked players and some good banter and we all feel the hurt (was shaking after this loss), but geez a lot of our supporters remind Leysy of Essendon followers of late with the constant personal attacks (hope George has no social media). And there aint no bigger criticism than that.

Admire you sticking up for him Leysey but whose fault is his kicking for goal? We are watching professional players here. So after several years in the system it has only now gone to pot? Can’t agree with you here. I believe possibly the best game he has played for the club was the 2019 GF. He was really good that day. Marked strongly. Tackled etc. He kicked 5 points. Almost kicked a goal. That’s his problem. He is almost a footballer. Almost takes a mark. Almost hits a teammate with a handball. Almost does something useful.

He didn’t kick a goal againstvGC. Cumberland who has been going pretty well at VFL level kicked 2. He was also burnt by George in the now infamous missing an unmissable goal.

His games in the VFL didn’t show a whole lot. I was shocked that he got a game over Sydney Stack.

Always a triple premiership player but we cannot carry him any more..

Like a shorter Luke McGuane.
Been saying it for years but Chaos George would be one of the least skilled players in the competition. A triple premiership player with no trade value.
He played a good role for us when our game was built on pressure & maniacal ball movement but his unpredictability & weak skill level has made him redundant in the current format. Been obvious for 2 seasons. Stop picking him Damien FFS.
Don’t insult Luke

Agree we go 23 points up with 5.50 left on the clock game over, but ill also add, with 3.45 left on the clock Short gives a 50-meter penalty to Rowell who goals (reduces the margin to 11 points), no need to touch the ball as we were 17 points up, and no way Rowell kicks a goal from the centre wing.
We still win it from here being 3 goals up if short doesn't give the 50 away. But as you said Castagna is the main culprit because if he kicks the goal we go 4 goals up and whatever happens after won't affect the result of the game.

Having watched the last 6 mins countless times there are at least 6 moments where one of these moments goes our way we win. Heartbreaking loss, I cant stop thinking about it.
Cant believe you have resolve to keep watching that

That's the problem though. Georgie did play n had the chance to kick four goals but *smile* up every opportunity. Poor bugger might just as well have played the whole game with his eyes closed, he had no *smile* idea what the hell he was doing out there. For a bloke who's 25 n played 130 games, four finals series it wasn't just a simple one off bad game or even bad moment. His performances were regularly chaotic at best but have been deteriorating for two years to horrifyingly shambolic.
Great post

Nah they got the four points because one of our stars had a day off due to a brain fade the week before.

Don’t agree - Short was silly but was an instinctive defensive action. Dumb but that’s it. Castagna is in his own Universe
