Welcome to Tigers: Jason Castagna

Both Bolton and Baker were great. The pure forward pressure game plan is over. Bolton and Baker showed that being damaging with your ball use is far more valuable then pure defensive skills. There has to be a minimal level of disposal skill to get a game.

Would Castagna have hit that kick to Lynch? Maybe. Is his ankle or whatever bugging him? Maybe, but it doesn't really matter. Is just too dodgy skills wise. He did release a lot of guys tonight, but ya wouldn't want to miss a 1.5m handball.

X2
Has to make way for Martin next week.
He's had seasons now, so I would prefer to see games put into Baker and Bolton for the time-being.
Reckon one of those two could step up and resign Castagna to the twos for a decent spell.

Think the end of the line has come for George. He would be the worst skilled
Footballer in the afl by a country mile. He is also a massive momentum killer of the likes I have never witnessed before.
He did well to play in a flag team and got a couple of kicks on the day. Been Found out now so time to move on.

I honestly thought the missed handball to Lambert which went out of bounds was going to cost us the game. How can a professional footballer not be able to complete the easiest of skills confounds me.

Baker/Bolton have much more upside.

His pressure is pretty good but he's not taking marks, not kicking goals, not hitting targets, not taking opportunities. If anyone has to go back to the 2's to find form, Castagna's surely first in line.

He cant handball
He cant kick
He cant take a mark
How is he always in the team?

P.s that handball that missed his teammate was the last straw

*smile*. 3 of his handballs directly led to goals. Played a team game and his chasing was good.

Was solid tonight and involved up fwd.

If he plays that role and kicks 1-2 he’s outperformed.

Although with the new mosquito fleet on the ground in Bolton, Baker & Rioli Jack could come straight in for Castagna.

George and Geezer thrived in the midget tsunami year of 2017.

No way am I writing them off, at the very worst they will become the new depth.

But its possible with the new forward structure around Lynch - Balta - Jack - Nank,

that these pair don't fit in.

Its early days, but they haven't given the impression they fit in.

Its not impossible that George and Geezer become VFL players (wow)

and Notorius and Bakes take their spots.

Creates a contest and applies heaps of defensive pressure. Is that enough to keep more skillfull players out, who are improving fast underneath him?
Time will tell

No he's on borrowed time.

He has to be at least vulnerable regarding his spot in the team.
Maybe the pressure of being dropped might spark him to greater heights.
He needs to keep improving if he wants to hold his place in the side.
