Welcome to Tigers: Jason Castagna

Love George as we all know, but he really did drop away after a dynamic start.

Will need to return to form next year as the structure will change in the front half for sure.

Yep. This 100%. You evolve or you die in AFL footy. His last third of the season was poor.

I've been a fan and a defender, but getting Lynch (we assume) will mean a re-calibration of our forward line operates. I reckon if Butler was fit, George may have been pushed out.

The addition of Lynch will change things for George. He won't be required to play as tall, but there will be less tolerance for his profligacy.

Profligacy - reckless extravagance or wastefulness in the use of resources.

Just for those, like me, who were unsure what this meant :).

Then, in that case, I was definitely profligulant after our loss last Friday night

I want most of our guys to be capable of playing 2-3 roles. In an instant I want to be able to swap Short and Castagna during a game, or tell George to run with Sidebottom or get under the skin of Greenwood, etc.

More versatile.

More flexible.

More ruthless.

Not sure how many tackes he got on Friday night, but he was hit by so huge ones by Collingwood.
It like every time he had the ball they targeted him.
At least he pressured Collingwood, better then Rance, Astbury and short all put together.

Not according to stats. Castagna had 32 pressure acts. Short had 30, Rance 12, and Astbury a ridiculous 2.

George came in to the team playing at half-back from memory, he did play there in the VFL. Is he the more defensive-minded defender we need --he can certainly chase, pressure and tackle and will fly with the big boys. This would enable Short to move upfield.

We can't we win a clearance with dusty and Cotchin in there, what's Short going to do? Turn into M.Voss?
Forget about Short. At best he is a foward pocket.
after Friday nights game just proved he isn't up to it.

You mean Trevor Tordjman ( whomever that is) has a doppelganger

I must say Gawwy Lyon wasn't too far away.

I think we had a thread on doppelgangers sometime ago.

Now that the Australian Open starts, I wonder if Rafa and Eric Hipwood have met. ;D

will george keep his spot this year? with lynch coming in, we're gonna go in with one less small forward. and he has a few challengers to his spot. also currently in a moon boot according to the training reports.

Most competitive spot in that small forward role. Going to be a battle for him to keep his possie.

We'll keep the three for sure ILHO.

Expecting Caddy to spend more time up the ground.
