Welcome to Tigers: Jason Castagna

A lot of melodramatic calls on here.

Absolutely zero chance he is dropped next week or this year.

He is way too crucial to our forward structure. No one in the twos goes close to delivering the multi facets he brings each week.

If we had Tom Lynch you could make a slight case but until then he will be locked in by the match committee.

Everyone is best accept that or you will go Crazy pardon the pun.

Yep, agree leysy. He’s a favourite.

But *smile* me his run up is a David Lynch movie.

Spot on Leysy

Castgna is the one of the most important players in order for our game plan to be successful.

Castagna is to our forward line what Graham is to our midfield.

Take those two out and we are far less potent as a team.

Yep him and Fly need to spend some time together at training on his routine.
Pretty sure caesar has said he works pretty hard on his set shots at the end of training, I think George gets the most out of his ability, his simply just not a highly skilled player

Correct.

George doesn’t play and everyone will be wondering why good opposition start intercept marking all the time.

Works harder on his goal kicking than anyone, it is what it is, enjoy the roller coaster (or not).

Different players Mr B. Castagna is your hybrid centre half forward. He competes in the air plus is like a cat on a hot tin roof when the ball hits the deck.

Stengle is a finisher. A class with ball in hand but cant do what George does.
No doubt, however I just wonder what type actually ads more to the team at the moment, obviously balance is the key, I’m not sure the stats but I’d say we have to fix our set shot goal kicking as a whole.

Obviously the others don’t work hard!!! his kicking for goal is embarrassing will cost us a final if he can’t correct it

He needs to be a lot better than last night, has still got some credits but he really needs to sort his set shot kicking out.

I dont get why Costanga gets a pass all the time when others like Ellis and Townsend get dropped. Townsend was a key player in our premiership run, he is a far better kick for goal and brings just as much pressure. Sam Lloyd has been amongst our best week after week in the VFL team. Is it just me or shouldn't you reward those playing well in the reserves. Dropping Costanga could be just what he needs to get his act together. Why is it good enough for others but not him.

No way should George be dropped.

Yes his kicking was off last night but I thought his routine was much better.
Much smoother run up and more momentum through the ball.

Unfortunately it didn't translate to goals but it will take a while to get confidence when changing things.
If that's his worst night things are looking pretty good.

Lets hope he can turn things around because he has kicked more behinds than goals this season.

I'm not sure why Townsend isn't getting a game. I would have him a head of at least 6 players
Your right about castagna, but he got 5+ scoring opportunities, what did Moore, Bolton and both Ellis's bring yesterday?
If your taking about form the first bloke you look at is caddy, he has been ordinary the last 5 weeks

It's more than the scoreboard result. It's the simplicity of the chances he is blowing and likely scoring chains that break down with a low quality disposal. Shots that should be 80-90% conversion he must be in the 20%s. The guy on twitter who does the x-score got recruited by PA or else we could try and find this out. He must be horrific in this category. There are also the out on the full / don't make the distances which don't register in the 0.5 result. He is Dario Cecchini.

It's also clear the arguments where he has to stay in as he does stuff that very few other small forwards can do in the air, and certainly no-one in our 2s who has pace to apply pressure / find space. We just need the ball to end up in the other forward's hands until he sorts out his head and also his set shot routine.

Maybe not highly skilled kicking wise as we know, but he is certainly a skilled footballer once you bring his whole package in. A freak.

Has so much untapped potential. Leyys fully expects him to be in the reckoning for All Australian squads ala Lambert once it all comes together.

Castagna adds more than a Stengle/Bolton no doubt Corn Chips. Watch his ability to compete against multiple tall defenders yet invariably bring the ball to ground.

Leysy would have a bet he is one of the strongest at the club.

George eats Townsend and Lloyd for breakfast in a few areas.

Firstly pressure, secondly overhed ability, thirdly pace which gives him the ability to cover exits and the switch for the opposition.

None will play ahead of George. Rightly.

The chance for Townsend is replacing Moore.
