Correct. The non-stop breakneck pace means he'll always be less clean than wed like, but it's also the reason he's in the side.. bit like rancey, still has the odd rancey moment. But because he's so aggressive and attacking we don't care. I reckon hell improve, but he'll always have George moments.

Personally I think that frenetic pace/intensity will be pretty hard to maintain in the role he plays. Don't think he's got enough strings to his bow if that drops off.

If he starts clunking his marks he'll kick 40 goals a season.
Taking the marks and picking up the ball cleanly. He was frustrating the hell out of me in the first half of the QF, it was like he rubbed butter on his fingers before the game.

If I’m the Brisbane Lions, I’m throwing the kitchen sink at George.

If I'm any other team I'm throwing the kitchen sink at George.

Seems we still have a few non believers on here.

George is so way ahead of the curve of how the game is going that it'll take another year or 2 for many to realise how vital he is.

I'm a real fan of his pressure and stamina, rioli will become a mid, I rate rioli at one, butler at 2, George after these two, but that's fine as love love love his pace, within a couple of years stengle and Bolton will become regulars when rioli becomes a mid, the exciting thing is that our side will become quicker and more attacking with so many quick young players in our vfl whom all will push for spots has they mature, exciting times ahead.

The problem is he has terrible skills and unless he significantly improves (which is highly unlikely at his age) in two years he might well not even be on the list. He'll only survive as the master of chaos for only so long, if we start losing he'd be the first looked at, and irregardless he is horribly vulnerable to anyone vying for his position that can decently kick or handball. At the moment if you had to pick a premiership player least likely to be in the starting 22 in two years from now that isn't a retiree it would be Castagna

Not sure about Georgie TBH..

Forward line coaches coach to bring unpredictability to their whole forward line through structure, in essence we only need a smaller FL and Georgie, I can see his value, and gee the start of the season he was getting a good amount of opportunity at goals..

Hes quite unconventional for a forward IMO thus a lot of ppl me included make his impact so hard to value.

Any other year, we'd see George (and Butler and possibly Graham) in a lower number next year. I wonder if they will choose to play out their careers in their premiership numbers.

they'de be mad to change wouldnt they?

Adelaide were crying out for a George on GF day. Where were eddie and charlie in the heat of battle? George was built for finals

He was a Rookie for a reason , He has done extremely well to get to where he is and is only 21 , Think he will continue to improve a fair bit

He is tracking almost exactly like Betts did at the same age , Could you ask for more ?

I remember Betts used to get knocks about the same things when he was 21

You dont give away players like Castagna for peanuts as they can bite you

Why are you so sure that Rioli will become a mid? Good midfielders are a dine a dozen but match winning small forwards are something special - think Cyril, think Betts. When a club is playing Hawthorn the further Cyril is away from the goals the happier they are. Cyril playing mid is one lesser headache for the opposition. Rioli could end up a midfielder, but it's no certainty nor would it be definitely the best use of his unique abilities.

Or you can think Peter Matera , When he gets the ball and runs 20mtrs out of the center to kick a goal after burning the opposition players away
4-5 times a game - Thats delicious

He is absolutely vital.
