He's a premiership player & well done to him for that. Nobody can ever take that mantle from him.
That said I remain to be convinced he's a long term player for us. Time will tell.

21y.o. with 30 games under the belt. He's been upgraded from a kamikaze small defender with dodgy skills to a kamikaze defensive small forward with dodgy skills.

Got a feeling he'll gain a little in composure as he matures n gets a few more games under the belt, but he'll always be susceptible to the WTF brain fart moments in play. If he maintains around a goal a game career average along with his high intensity pressure game up forward then he's more than paying his way.

Get the feeling there's something about George that 1 day it will all just click and he will have a crazy day out where it all goes his way and kicks a bag of 6/7 goals and really breaks out.

You know when you see a girl thats not very sexy or beautiful but there is something about that you know that is attractive

It's def possible. Rance used to run around like a chook with his head cut off & look at him now..
That said, Castagna's a smaller player. Will be interesting to see what unfolds. Like I said I remain to be convinced of his long term future.

Love George, absolute key to our forward structure.

Very hard to replace what he brings.

20 games again next year ILO.

Geez, after 20 games? Makes you wonder what a certain Jack Riewoldt has been doing all these years!? Just a passenger.

:rofl

No idea what your post means Leonie.

Fair dinkum, no wonder I dubbed you HazyDazy! Sorry we cannot post in braille on PRE.

I'll try again. So, according to you, George who many questioned whether he really should keep his place, is the " ... absolute key to our forward structure."

After 20 games? More vital than JR, not to mention Rioli, Butler, Caddy and even Dusty when he goes forward? Seriously?

Never said he was "THE" key Leonie.

Unlikely you to be pedantic though. Best get back to rubbishing the club about our lack of height.

On George, the reason he is so important to our forward structure and will be hard to replace:

He plays tall - He is our pseudo CHF. He competes in the air unbelievable well. Rarely is ever outmarked one onone against anyone no matter the size

He also tackles and harrasses like a machine.

Thus he plays both tall and small which is crucial with our lack of big guys up front and hard to replicate.

Comprende?

Anyone think we might look to move him up the ground? He has the shake and bake to be effective in congestion. Also allows Bolton and Stengle to come through

Its a fair idea but the post by Leysy outlines why we want him at CHF competing in the air.

He aint perfect at the normal stuff but he is perfect for our abnormal style.

Rather bring Bolton in on the wing maybe?

Leysy Days said:
Yeah Bolton is the one that can move up the ground or even to the backline in time ILO.

Spot on. Leave George where he is. Bolton to the back line and Rioli to a wing/middle if Stengel is promoted or we play another tall.

Little Master's kicking is less exposed in turnovers disguised as behinds/OOTFs. Take the good with the bad, and let the bad be spectacular.

In other words, George is master of the forward domain?

No wonder everyone is feeling frustrated.

Winning the flag for all our young players has put 100 games into them.
I expect the level of improvement from these young premiership players to be huge next season as they will have the arrogance they would have played with at junior level, when they knew they were better than the rest.

Bolton wouldn't have seen the backline in his entire careeer. Dunno why you would want to turn a potential magical half forward into a backline player.

George probably should have grabbed a few more marks in the Granny. Got his hands to plenty.

Not many talented kids see the backline at all in juniors.

Many go there as seniors.

Think he's well suited and our 5 talented small forwards won't go into 3 roles up in attack.

Wing or backline is best suited for Shae compared to the others ILO.

Rioli also a chance of midfield in time.
