Is the Suns draft video worth watching?

I would be quite happy for a Richmond video not to come out. None of the teams are coming out looking impressive in these videos.

A lot of references to R C-D being raw in that video. I suspect he has a long way to go which is fine, we have enough depth to school him properly in the vfl

We are in a great position to be able to develop players properly these days.

When I look at pics/ videos of him I see so much physical development needed to mix it with the 'big boys'. Strong lower body but the upper body of a fit 15 year old.

As you say Sin, at least we can now have confidence in the club to get this happening for 'the hyphen' so he can hopefully achieve his best.

Yep they were very calm and measured, and were rapt to secure a pick swap to guzump Sydney and get their man Jez McLennan.t

Not that I would have done the swap as I reckon West Coast easily got the better of the pick swap which were the Eagles handed Gold Coast selection 23 and a fifth round selection next year, for picks 27 and 32, (paid overs I reckon because Mclennan really wanted to come to their club)

In fact West Coast must think the Gold Coast are their trading buddies have a look at their pick swaps from last year

Gold Coast bet on West Coast slumping this year when it agreed to a pick swap involving selections from both 2017 and 2018.

The Suns sent Picks 21, 26 and 37, as well as their 2018 second-round pick, to the Eagles in exchange for Pick 50 and West Coast’s first round selection.

Wow, that's madness.

The Suns looked measure and Calm and were fine with the first 3 picks but looked desperate to get Mclennan in and was certain sydney moved up to get him
the skinny bloke that talked to the eagles looked like he was the most invested into Mclennan.

Even prior to the pick swap between Carlton/Adelaide there was no mention of Stocker or trading to get him to the club only about Mclennan & Valente
Its looking more and mre like Carlton were the only team that rated Stocker before 20-23

Marketing The draft is very important for the club to get the membership train rolling.

Feel sorry for the suns they were all excited with their early picks who will leave in a couple of years.

I just feel sorry for the draftees who will need to waste a number of years of their careers playing in front of less than 10,000 people. They will be well paid and that is about it.

Not such a bad thing !! Then they can come to Richmond for Unders as they have enough money already

Anyone know if RCD has continued his fitness training during the break?
All the players would have tailored programs that they need to maintain over the end of season break as well as the Christmas break. Why would RCD be any different?

They are actually given watches that have GPS capabilities and remotely send info directly to the clubs sports science team. I can't confirm whether all players need to check in or only certain players as each player has a highly specialised programme tailored specifically to their physical capabilities

Understand that but meant whether he was training with the same fitness guru over the break

A player like RD who needs to build his fitness and 1st year player would have a detailed program to do whilst away from the club, It would mainly consist of running
I knew a player who played a few games for the bulldogs many years ago (1994)and in his first year at the doggies when he was first drafted he was required to complete a program which consisted of running 10-12 klms a day and roughly 90 mins a day weights work.

His parents went out and spend $3000 at the time for gym equipment that he needed and the work he id during the 2 weeks break at the time was huge and went along way to getting him ready for when he started back after the new year break.

Wouldnt imagine RD would be any different and looks like he would be really motivated to get some work under his belt after seeing how far he needs to develop to make it to the required level but from whats been reported he looks like has a bit of work to do to get up to afl match day fitness.
Personally im not expecting alot from RCD in the first 2 years as he builds his fitness and strength

Let's hope he was not going from 0km to 10-12km per day immediately or he would have bad shin splints very quickly. Back then it may have been "one size fits all" but now they build up the loads more gradually to prevent those injuries.

10-12 klm Run is not really a massive amount and probably takes somebody thats an athlete only an hour, A player like RCD who has been a footballer for 4-5 years and training would not have any trouble doing this. My Daughter who is 23 goes for a 8klm run 5 times a week which takes her less than an hour and she is not an elite spots person

Toby McLean was about the same when he hit the big time, now he's running around as a full time mid & doing a pretty good job. Probably need to give RCD 2-3 years, and as has been mentioned a few times, he's a middle distance runner so 12 km runs not the be-all-end-all.

I’m sure RCDC is a livewire on the training track. He’s got the Jacks around him. Proof was when he came back from the break, he was back in black (and yellow).
