No I get the RCD hype, it’s the Corey Ellis hype I don’t remember.

Always thought there was more of a hope with Ellis, never hype.

Well the Hype was part of the Hope

Silky Skills
Elite kick
Smart Footballer

Was meant to be a combination of
Simon Black / Scott Pendlebury / Sam Mitchell all rolled into one

I think i may have convinced myself we should get him back with that decription - Slap me

Slow, not very contested & not particularly strong. Hopefully that puts things into perspective.

Cotch wrapped him up one year after an intra club just as Vlastuin did with RCD. Think it was at the beginning of the 2016 season.

Denial is a natural defence mechanism.
It helps us rationalise our past failures. I imagine the people who recruited him are trying to forget the hype also.

I recall a lot of reservation re. drafting Ellis, particularly among PRE pundits.

Not happy Lennon, Ellis and Conca real 1sr Rd duds

Could have so easily have been

Heppell (replaces B.Ellis in the team)
Cripps ( Replaces Grigg in the team)
Lever ( Replaces Broad in the team)

Richmond would most certainly have the best list in the league for the next 6-7 years

On the positivity coming from the club about RCD and Jack Ross, and similar to Cotch re CEllis, its probably as much about building belief for the youngsters. So a message to the players as much as to the supporters.
Confidence and belief seemed to be holding CEllis back.

Need to build the kids up, get them feeling they belong and can make it. Sounds like Ross has a healthy belief in himself

I would agree with you if it was a Rance , Riewoldt or Cotchin that said this but Vlastuin not so much
from the interview it looked like a genuine opinion of Vlastuin's

Fair enough.
For sure Flossy is being primed for leadership so will be keeping the company line.

But it could be a genuine opinion and i'm happy to his word for it!

Here's a few differences between Corey's faith hype and R.CDawkins' evidence:

Corey's kick from stopped play told us he could kick it from stopped play. Stories grew wild about how he parted the seas. However, we already knew he could kick before we drafted him, so it didn't answer the omnipresent question: How will this kid adapt at the next level?

In RCD's first hour of match sim, he's already buried his face in the microscope, breaking rough tackles by large men and hitting his teammates on the chest with clean hands - more than once. That's adaptation. Evolution. To the next level.

And finally, I submit video evidence from the club's QLD camp, where we can see RCD looking comfortable socially in his new habitat. Pre-draft, it was known Corey wasn't going to communicate via merely thinking at people; he needed to work on opening up, but this always remained a trait that never fully adapted. If you don't adapt, you become extinct... by heading to the Gold Coast, before they become extinct, too.

In summary, R.CDawkins' evidence is piling up, but it's impossible to either prove or disprove the existence of his potential, so there's no shame in waiting and being agnostic.

RCD was confident and happy and full of life when he was drafted

Ellis cried and retreated into his backyard sh!tting himself

Eh? Wrong draft. That was Scully & Trengove before Dusty.

Morton was in Cotchin's draft.

Was trying to highlight how fruitless it is talking about wasted picks.
Celebrate the good ones. Forget the poor ones

Absolutely. Lack of speed and being what seemed to be more of an outside player seemed to be the major concerns. Also had injuries during his last TAC season so it was hard to measure his progress. Unfortunately history shows he wasn't really a contested ball player and just couldn't get the ball enough to make an impact. He of course had definite potential if he could bulk up but that was the other problem, another skinnier guy who couldn't really bulk up. Not too many players make it being lightly built and slow. Think we reached a bit but in hindsight looking at the 2014 draft there doesn't seem to be too many players picked shortly after him who have gone on to be dominating.

Well it's official.
RCD is actually 191cm but feels he could still grow.
Astounding the RFC website sites him as 193cm. Taz please lend them your tape measure.
