The only time a current AFL player runs 10-12 kms in a day is on game day.

Correct. It’s all a bit complicated and boring but their running is based around speed, speed endurance, special endurance and old school fatigue based repeat efforts. An AFL footballer has no business running anything beyond 20-25 mins non stop.
Good friend in ex AFL and his holiday program over a 15 day period was for 5 running sessions, 5 kicking the footy sessions (usually did both at same time) then gym as much as they want depending on what they had available. Other things like swimming or bike riding were encouraged. For most this period was just maintaining fitness levels and being fresh for when they returned.

Another of the kids i was keen to get a look at today at training.
Great size and build, did not look out of place at all.
Intensity and skills looked good. definately a chance for a game or 2.

Go to AFL.com.au for an article on RCD:

"Tigers' top draft pick an instant hit on Gold Coast camp"

Basically just saying he has impressed on camp

Wow. Best in match sim? We may have hit a(nother) jackpot?

I get the feeling RCD & Ross will find thier way into the side early on & won't see much VFL thereafter, that will push out someone that deserves to be there but that is what depth does. Great problem to have.

Play RCD Rd 1 to show SOS 1st hand what he missed.

Out: MIles , Ellis
In : RCD , Ross

Out: Conca , Lloyd ,Stengle , Drummond
In: Turner , Stack , English , Aarts

Out: Hampson , Griffiths
In: Lynch , Weller

We have done well and looking at the ins/outs in 12 months time we have lost nothing in depth but upgraded in quality
Collier-Dawkins & Ross are going to be extremely important in 3 years time when Cotchin , Edwards are near the end

Bloody exciting. I do recall a few seasons ago that a silky Corey Ellis was tearing it up in the pre season intra club hitouts so one has to temper expectations.

Really? I don't remember that. On RCD, he is the modern prototype. Absolutely the right pick based on list needs and who was available, regardless of what happens from here.

Good analysis.

Definitely upgraded on the talls, albeit one player. But what a player!!

But short term I reckon we have lost depth in midfield in the event of a few injuries. Weller should be up compared Miles, Conca and Lloyd. It will need some natural growth within the list to cover some of them, including Higgins, Graham and maybe Rioli.

But long term definite potential for midfield upgrade on these three with RCD and Ross plus the other recruits. Stack a potential successor to Edwards in 2 or 3 years.

The other area is utilities including Grigg and Houli who are in their final year or two (and may drop off this year in form). We didn't draft in this area (maybe Turner), and will need the likes of Naish, Oleg, Menadue to come on quickly.

Number 26 huh?

We’ve never had a 26 play in a premiership before.
Or 36. (Callum Moore)
Maybe this kid breaks the trend.
I had an uncle Reg Hall who came over from WA for a couple of years in the early 1950s wore no 26. Went back to WA and played in the East Perth premierships of 56, 58 and 61 as well as WA in 58. Probably the only person who roved to Roy Wright and Polly Farmer.

Absolutely, huge upside & has the potential to be another act of highway robbery.

Fair note for CV that one :fing32

Whilst many were keeping the lid on it with the Hyphen, it seems from observers that the lad is actually showing a little bit more than was expected at these early stages.
Exciting to hear for all fans.

I still remember that pass to Deledio.
Little did we know that that would be the highlight of his Richmond career.

For me it was his last ditch dive to save a cert six points against the Crows. Sadly he didn't have what it takes t get into the firsts permanently so hope Dawks has got it

No I get the RCD hype, it’s the Corey Ellis hype I don’t remember.

Always thought there was more of a hope with Ellis, never hype.
