Welcome to the Tiggers - Daniel Butler

Dan came 8th in the B & F in a premiership year. Was in the top 10 at the time he got injured last year and is ranked Richmond's 12th best player on AFL ratings despite missing the last half of the season last year. He is not just making up the numbers.

Don't think anyone suggesting he's making up the numbers but there is a lot of defending of a very poor performance in the 1st JLT and a very patchy performance in the 2nd.
Other players on here not bullet proof against criticism (see Short). He seems to lack touch atm and to me doesn't appear to want to engage in body contact unless its tackling.
As far as AFL ranking goes, Iv'e just had a look for the first time. Butler ranked higher than Grimes. I rest my case.
Rankings mean squat.
Butler is important to the team. As is Grigg, Short or McKintosh but let's call it when its there because we all want players in form, not on reputation.

Butler was ordinary JLT 1 but the coaches would be very happy with what he did JLT2.

He does some amazing things and he has an unorthodox approach but lets hope some of the decision making in JLT1 & 2 just comes down to rust and getting ready for round 1. I think we have to take the good with the bad with Castagna and Butler. They will kick us 50+ goals and set up many more for others but will leave quite a few on the table due to their brain fades..

This will be the year that Butler takes the game by the scruff of the neck and elevates himself into the $500k per year category.

As a team we had two patchy performances in the JLT but still win both games: versus decent teams in Melb & Haw.
No point in flying too high in March.
Early September is when we need to peak for a month.

Same goes for butler.

Hellelujah ddt

Let's see how he's performing after a few games of the real season and make judgement then. Small forward is a tough role, hard to be consistent, but in our team you're measured highly on your defensive pressuring in the forward line as well. All this needs to be taken into account when judging a player's performance.

He'll be OK..6/6/6 rule helps him. a bit more space to move.

Last quarter specialist.

If he gives us run and dash in 25 final quarters this season, I'll take the inevitable brain fades that come with his chaotic style.

Yes he his, I reckon most of his goals in 2017 were in the last quarter.

Liability.

Just plays so nonchalant without any intensity amamzingly frustrating player to watch
