Welcome to the Tiggers - Daniel Butler

Needs to put his head over it and get the pill rather than waiting to lay a tackle. He’s playing soft footy.

I hear ya, but at the risk of sounding new fangled, its not his role. His role is to tackle maniacally when they have it, be unpredictable and creative when we've got it. Anything in between and he can look a bit all at sea I admit. and he's a bit down on confidence IMO.

Is a good tackler, but needs to have more strings to his bow. For someone with his pace, he gets caught with the ball too many times.

The daggers are out sheesh. Save your breath.
Premiership player first game since rd 14 last year?
7 tackles made some blues, as did many .
No damage done lets see how he goes next month

Good assessment - deserves time.

He does need time but he should spend it finding touch in the VFL. When he's somewhere near 2017 form he can come back. He won't get too many easier opponents than last night. He was poor as he was in the JLT. He's being gifted games on reputation at the moment.

Why? When we want to time our run a bit better this year than last year why not leave players like him in the seniors to find form. We don't want to be going as hard as possible right from round 1.

7 tackles and did his bit defensively along with hitting the scoreboard.

Stays for mine, and will be even better when Castagna comes in for Weller.

Agree. The last qtr when Carlton were gassed allowed him to pad his stats but his first 3 qtrs. were putrid. Won't be dropped as he's a bit of a favourite but he wouldn't want to play like that every week.

The good, 7 tackles and 45 pressure acts. The bad, kicking has been woeful, needs to slow down when running into goal, compose himself, know what's around and slot the goal. Zero negotiation on this as a small forward.

concur with this......Butler is match fitness player...meaning he needs consecutive games to get going.
will be tip top in a few games.

for me rioli is a worry thinking the love balls with fevola is affecting him

The VFL is the place to play guys into form and regain confidence. He's totally out of sorts.
It's also important culturally to reward players that are in form. Baker was outstanding in the VFL yesterday and IMHO was good in JLT from limited game time. Deserves a spot in the seniors on form.
