Welcome to the Tiggers - Daniel Butler

I don’t think Butler’s spot is in question. Early in the season he was better than last year, he puts on a heap of pressure and his tackling is ferocious. When Rioli is back he will be further freed up. Easily best 22 for mine.

Disagree.......respectfully of course.

Just isn't getting the ball......usually gets caught with it and/or tuns it over........gets his tackles shrugged off too easily.....not particularly strong overhead.......and has pretty much stunk it up most games (with the occasional cameo where he bags a goal or two).

Bolton or Stengle have given us more in their limited appearances.

If people are saying Higgins needs to go back to the twos then Butler should too. Having a premiership medal shouldn't mean you don't get scrutinised equally.

He started well but is having a lean patch. Definitely needs to lift with so many smalls doing well in the vfl.

He has a few limitations that I was hoping he may have ironed out this year. Indecision in congestion is #1.

For such a quick player he gets caught too often. He almost looks for the contact like Dusty does but doesn't have the fend off to break the tackle. Just needs to improve his awareness to take that next step.

This is rubbish. Butler is always at the top of the pressure list. Didn't have a great game, is lairising a bit trying to be too cute, but Castagna had a poor one as well. The forward line isn't about the individuals, it's how the group has performed as a defensive unit as a whole creating opportunities for the lucky one in the end who gets to kick the goals. There's a reason Caddy is getting the rewards, it's because the others (particularly the two just mentioned) are creating so much pressure that the ball gets turned over. I am for giving Stengle a go but there is no way he will provide the sustained pressure that the others do from what I have seen in the reserves. To say Bolton and Stengle have given more in their limited appearance shows a lack of memory. Bolton is struggling a little in the reserves, why would you bring him in to the 1sts. Stengle has played just two games, both very subdued appearances, and that's fine, no-one is expecting miracles at this stage.

I reckon Geezer has 7 poor weeks, with a downward trajectory.

I cant see the modern Richmond match committee has any choice but to give Dan a spell?

Needs to be dropped. Reckon he’s been just going all year and really poor last 2 weeks.

Playing like he thinks his *smile* doesn’t stink.

Reality check required.

Would have agreed a few weeks ago, but now to me he just looks like his confidence is shot. Has to be dropped.

I bet he can't wait to get Rioli in the team.

It's no coincidence his drop in form is because Rioli has been missing.

Reckon it must be a confidence thing.
At times you think you can see what he's wanting to do - but it's not not clicking into place the way it did last year.
