Welcome to the Tiggers - Daniel Butler

A lot of our youth were caught unawares by Collingwood's pressure in the first half. They all struggled. And then they all lifted. Very encouraging.

Daniel Butler found another gear. With the game in the balance and two opponents all over him he got aggressive. And burned them. This kid's gunna make it.

You may be right - I hadn't thought of that.

It will be another step up next week against the Eagles so interested to see how they respond to a harder game again.

Just great to see a kid come on so well. A third round pick at that. I really like what he brings to the team.

It will be interesting to see how he and the other small forwards fare next week against a big team like the eagles
Fourth round.

Toe poke was magnificent, as was his poise and coolness in slotting that goal from 50 out when everyone else had been missing at an important time. Love this kid.

Loved his toe poke to a team mates advantage.
Second time in two weeks.
He has footy smarts.
Noticed it too. Clever and has a soft touch. Toe poked it to advantage nicely.

And played a bigger second half as the game opened up. That is a great sign.

Great to see him thrive at this level, very confident of what he can do with passing and set shots. Anyone see him show these traits at VFL level?

Seems the hit rate on small forwards is pretty random so it makes sense to take them after pick 50 in draft where it becomes a lottery, or later in the Rookie or PSD. Just as much success here as in the first two rounds.

Ballantine pick 21
Betts PSD
Thomas pick 53
Walters pick 53
Wingard pick 6
Rioli pick 12
Green pick 32
Gray pick 55
Garrett pick 85
McGlynn Rookie 55
Motlop pick 39

Kid is a ripper. Exactly what we have been missing for a number of years. Will get a Rising Star nomination at some stage.

Should have taken 2 big speccies but bobbled them after doing all he hard work and having them in his mitts. If he starts taking marks like that, he could have an Elliot or Walters on our hands.

Another good effort, he finished the game off well when the whips were cracking.

I reckon he took one of them Snakes, ball jumped out when he landed on the defenders shoulder. Mind you Caddy kicked it from a metre out of bounds so it would have been a lucky goal.

The thing I like about him in addition to his pace is his smarts and touch. His soccer lay off to Caddy for the last to martin was very good. Methinks Dan might have played a bit of round ball with his soccer touches in the JLT for the goal and in the first two rounds.

Good player. Loved the running goal. Progressing well and can see him transitioning into the midfield.

He is now playing the role I saw him play when he was a junior.

He played as a goal kicking mid as a junior and was a tackling machine to boot.

Nothing has changed.
