Welcome to the Tiggers - Daniel Butler

Just shows the moan drones are really having to dig deep to find reasons to blast the club.

When Butler kicked his GOTY candidate there was thirty seconds of deathly silence in the FOX commentary box.

I reckon it was Healy's turn to talk. (If your dig didn't bite him you'd shoot it.)

Anyway, back to Butler's second goal. *smile* awesome. In his third senior game. This is what a player with a fine future looks like at that stage. Three games into learning the caper.

Why is Matt White even being mentioned?!?

So irrelevant. ::)

We've got so many better kids to talk about!
Agree, had one decent season in 7 at Punt rd, most overrated player on this forum imho .

He's overrated by a very vocal minority imo. Most realise that Whitey was a headless chook who occasionally got lucky in front of goal.

Yeah. The substitute rule suited him too... could come on later when other players were tired so his pace really showed. That rule has gone, and so has he pretty much.

Butler has an opportunity. Edwards is out for 2 months. Although only a pup he has a chance to play some midfield minutes. Probably sharing opportunities with Rioli.
he is obviously too young and small, there were moments yesterday when he wasnt strong enough at the clinch and even didnt hold on in what would have been a terrific run down tackle. Against the pies he was caught spectating and his man got off him too much, but i didnt notice so much against west coast.
What he does have is poise in congestion. would be interesting if he can get midfield time

Butler and Georgy are proof of the blunder by Hardwick to get rid of Matty White.

The last two seasons we have missed that line breaking player, now we have two.

Yandb is totally correct. I have been a measured but not blind supporter of Hardwick. However, he showed no tactical awareness of the need for speed. White was the fastest player we had on the list, with Lids. Just after having his best ever season, had previous ones curtailed by injuries such as hammies (typical of explosive athletes) and winning our Most Improved Player award, we let him walk for refusing to offer him a 2 year deal, unlike PA. Also he was sick of being picked as the substitute constantly and said so in an interview at the time (google it). Played many very good games for PA, kicking many great goals.

Yandb's point really holds up - we have lacked speed for the years since and had to go and draft it again. So there has been a serious time lapse, whereas retaining White would have helped bridge the 'speed' gap. The proof is in that he did it for PA DURING that time. Lids became less effective due to his injuries over the same period too, then left (but turned out a good move because the new crew has arrived NOW in 2017).

This 'headless chook' White ran 100m and kicked a 50m goal of the year against us in 2014. He lost his place in PA team due to several other injuries, still might make it back, who knows?

Those attacking Yandb's post are simply ignoring the time lag of 3 lost years with a slowing, stagnant team. I argued these very same points on the MW thread at the time; now posters want to rewrite the history because it's taken until 2017 to bring in 3 quick players who have transformed the side.

He hated being picked as sub constantly; never felt like he was really part of the team. A big reason he left. So, no, didn't suit him.

No one is rewriting Matty White history. He had one decent season after 7 or 8 below average ones. We offered one year to see if he would continue this new found form or fall back to type. He was earmarked for delisting but the turn around in form earned him another contract and chance to show it wasn't a fluke.

He chose to leave the supposedly club he loved for more coin in SA. Good riddance.

Come on yardb having a strategy of playing multiple quick forwards and recruiting accordingly to do so has zero baring on Marty White.

It's a positive well thought out strategic change, please Hardwick got rid of Matty White?

So Mappa, who were our 'multiple quick forwards' over 2014-2016? Knights, Morris, Thomas?

We have been in a time-warp, have we? So now it's 2017, it's all forgotten. There was that great final against PA in '14. The way we over-ran Norf in the '15 EF? Like 2016 was such a great year for the club, we loved it. Yer, right.

Maybe fully comprehend a point before you respond with a trite post. You only missed it by about 3 years.

Firstly you're just plain wrong. Secondly you keep missing the point, like in your really irrelevant post above about "moan drones." Actually, I can hardly be bothered, you can revel in your pompous ignorance. It's just annoying though.

It's an historic point. Only means one thing relevant now - the club had to go out and find speedy players when it just let its fastest man walk because Hardwick was too thick to realise speed mattered, and wouldn't stop only playing him as sub (hated by most players), and our list manager was too tight to offer a fair deal.

Don't let any actual facts get in the way of your pomposity though. Here's Hardwick interviewed, probably before the game in which White kicked GOTY, insisting 'the Tigers had no option but to allow Matt White to take the free agency route to Port Adelaide.' Then states, ' (MW) who was obviously important to us and we would have loved to have kept him.' Overall, White is seen as a danger player by the same coach who only saw him as a substitute player on a regular basis in 2013.

Read some of this further and see if you deduce anything from Hardwick's fudging and bulldust:

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/teams/richmond/tigers-coach-damien-hardwick-says-matthew-whites-exit-a-result-of-free-agency-planning-to-upset-port-adelaide-in-round-17/news-story/05efd69768857bac2aeebf21769fd469

It's taken 2/3 years to find players with genuine pace; in the interim it would have been smart to have White playing for us rather than the opposition.

EDIT: Found another great article to contextualise it all more for you. Although can't find the one where White says how he was sick of being sub.

Firstly you're just plain ... blah....blah...blah

Sounds like you got your side of the story from good ole rimau. Actually, you're not rimau's sober alter ego are you?

Anyway, believe what you want. The club decided to make an offer of a one year deal instead of delisting simply because White had by his standards an above average year. Matt instead took the Port offer instead of backing himself at the "club he loved". This may not gel with what the whites say, but it was the clubs thinking at the time.

Btw, you really need to learn how to have a debate on social forums without resorting to personal name calling when someone disagrees with you. It's like being back in primary school.

I believe what I can adjudge best on available evidence/proof. Re your 2nd point, I've already dealt with it, but to repeat. RFC awarded him MIP that year, so the objective evidence is that the club, not MW, rated his last year with us as pretty good. So you work for 'love', do you? Never needed to want a bit of job security to plan a future etc. That's just a really stupid argument. e.g. why didn't Prestia stay with his first 'love', GC? Money had nothing to do with it? But you're not outraged? And, as stated, the proof is in White's subsequent performances at PA over 2014-16 until injury ruined.

As for your final patronising point. What blatant hypocrisy. You lecture me on 'personal name calling' after opening with a really insulting preface, accusing me of being an 'alter ego' I have absolutely no connection to whatsoever. Which I have emphatically stated before where someone else suggested this furphy.

So, you cannot deal with the ideas, arguments or comprehend/digest the evidence (of which I have only provided a little), so you resort to such insults in order to try to dismiss my points on the basis of dragging in the name of some other poster who is totally irrelevant and unknown (other than seeing an occasional post from) to me. So, once again. I have NFI who Rimau is in person, and whatever he thinks or says has absolutely no link to me whatsoever. But how is it relevant anyway?

So, I don't need any of your patronising hypocrisy. OTOH, you have lost much respect from me ... as I said, revel in you very evident ignorant pomposity. It's just that some of us call BS at times.

tl;dr

Found it - more evidence. It beats bulldust from pompous posters any day:

Whatever you're now posting, I have no idea or interest in deciphering. I can simply see it as a really weak cop-out. As expected; consistent.

Game, set and match. More hot air than a reeking, bloated whale carcass overall.
