Welcome to the Tiggers - Daniel Butler

Big question marks for me on Butler. Skills address scrappy, and he made a number of really poor defensive errors last Friday.

Happy to see him continue to ply his trade at reserves level.

Did a couple of poor things but a fair few good things. Considering it was the first game for the year and his seniors level first game (did he play NAB cup prev? I didn't think he did but could be wrong), and his injury history, and that his chances of making it had been virtually written off before last Friday, I can't see you can't be happy with his game. Of course, very early days,.

You're a harsh taskmaster Coburg. Butler was almost as good as Edwards last Friday.

Thought he had a run in at least one pre season game last year, but I could be wrong. I may have seen him play a gane at VFL level and was unimpressed, however Friday night's game really showed that he has a future and some attributes that could see him make a go of it at senior level.

Absolutely agree Snakey, from basically a forgotten man to picking up 20 poesies, a goal and a lot of run, sure he made some mistakes but first game in seniors (obviously a Praccy) but from no hope to now having some hope for the young man, a big change of expectations from nothing to nothing to possibly something.

One Swallow doesn't make a summer but he was good Friday night. I was another that was surprised that he wasn't delisted on VFL form, albeit towards the end of the year there was some improvement. His preseason running has been elite but I had/have doubts on his other football attributes. A couple of panicked possessions and decision making issues still prevail but first game up a level can be excused. The Matty White comparison is probably a good one at this stage, a bit scatter gun and not a lot of composure. Georgie boy a bit the same i reckon. (PS comments not based soley on Friday's game but VFL watching). Anyway hope at least one of these boys can make the grade, any injection of pace a welcome addition.

Watched the replay today. Butts running through the middle reminded me of early Lids. Not as tall as Lids but has that blistering pace that Lids showed early on before it was coached out if him

Agree on 'Butts' but who did (or could) coach Lids' pace out of him? Oh! Dimma, of course. He must be an amazing coach to be able to do that! Hilarious. Why on earth would you want to, even if you could?
Don't think Lids ever lost his speed; could always turn the after-burners on. Age and injuries may have cost him a yard or two however.

Big improvement at this point, I'd like to see him be a little more cleaner winning the ball an just a little less hesitant, both should come with continuity of games

Hopefully he is like McIntosh. Kam didn't show much at all at VFL level in his first two years and then something clicked over pre season in his third year and he played the whole year in the Seniors. He certainly has the speed to provide something different than the footsolider types like Taylor Hunt.

He is bloody quick. That running goal was a highlight.

Not super clean with his hands but once he does get it he break the lines.

I would play both Castagna and Butler round 1.

They might not get 30 touches but they create pressure on the opposition.

Butler must have been a whisker off being delisted in July last year. Now he's that far off a Round One senior berth. Workmanlike again today. :clap

Great to watch kids that want to play. He has been a standout in both games.
His pace and moves remind me of Naish

Tend to agree. But Butts did fumble badly at times today. Still tense and adjusting to the increased game-speed most likely. Will improve when he can calm the nerves and find more poise, but just a kid.
