Welcome to the Tigers Oleg Markov

You convinced me of that old son.

For me Rioli & Markov both had really solid B+ years.

Footy public has completely missed it. We have a couple of legit A graders in the making.
Yep. And they have something we have lacked : pace. Both exciting prospects.

The confidence - and competence - with which both took the game on was the highlight of a drab season. Markov had been promising in the twos when I'd seen him, but in the ones he was a revelation.

Have to give Dimma credit, he picked it - said Markov like KMac would be better in the big league than the dew-kickers.

This is what frustrates me with our player development....young Oleg was in his junior days a gun forward. At the draft combine he had one of the best results for the goal kicking test. His highlights on YouTube are of him playing in the forward line. This is what got him drafted.

With this in mind, our learned coaching staff decide to make him a back flanker. Now before I get hammered by everyone that he needs to learn a defensive game, why is it so hard to just let the kid learn and develop purely as a predominant forward? That is his instinctive position.

In world football (soccer), you don't convert a centre forward into defender. Markov needs to become a specialist forward who has a defensive element to his game. I think Markov will be wasted as a rebounding back flanker, a role that can be coached to most players with explosive speed. Specialist forwards are the players who are hard to find and develop.

Remember when he came on in his first NAB game? Played as a lead up HF and reminded me of Lids' first game v Geelong. Strong marks out in front, quick ball movement forward.

People are saying Lemon shoukd be playing Lids role. While I reckon Oleg should get first crack. Has much more pace and works twice as hard

He is adaptable and hopefully he will be able to play at both ends of the ground. The best teams have multiple mid options all over the field and that is what we have to build as well.

I can understand why he was playing half back though because he has the perfect game for it

Obviously, understandably there is a lot of angst over our drafting history. But got to say, this is one they definitely got right. Picked at 50 in the ND, a very astute selection.

Still surprised he went that late in the draft. Especially considering he was actually a year older than the conventional drafting age. The kind of bloke you would have thought, might have found himself onto a Crows or Port rookie list the year earlier, being right under their nose in the SANFL.

Is that the bit they call " touche " snakey one?

Bit mean of ya giving Scoopers a bit of a poke with the old pointy stick.

Providing Dimma's coaching doesn't remove their flair. He has been pretty successful in doing that to others

This kids got that special something. I'm anticipating a potential A grader in the making here.

I honestly can see what you are saying that is a big call though all the same. I like the fact that he wants the ball to take the game on.

Totally agree, reckon he also has the want, saw him clocking up laps solo at PR last week a week ahead of schedule. Reckon he would blitz all comers at our club for the 400 or 800 meters, bloody effortless! Reckon he will go BANG this year.

Im also a Fan of Oleg Oleg .................................... Oleg Oleg

Jokes aside this kid really looks like he wants it and will get to where he wants in afl

Cant wait to see him with another pre season and 5 more kgs on his frame, Has all the tools and could become our instant Lids replacement

About time we had some speed at the club, Just need to continue this path with Fast natural footballers with flair and creativity
