Welcome to the Tigers Jacob Hopper

You’d think with the 7 year deal it would be a complete new contract
Willos, like me, are you amused by the misspelling of Hooper as well ? It’s like the Griggs thing all over again don’t you think ?

How much is Hopper actually owed from GWS next year?
I get this whole salary dump thing, and I may be naive but I thought GWS wanted to keep Hopper if they could and it wasn’t a salary dump? With Taranto off the books, and only 12 months left on Jacobs contract surely it isn’t a do or die for them?

I'm confused. Why are they wanting more than pick 31 and F1st with Hopper but then announce Whitfield and Haynes as possible trades too?
My thoughts exactly, Hopper is salary dump, it would seem his salary is not the one they want to dump, 'cause he ain't on the big bucks........we now know who is.

If GWS is shedding 4-5 players for salary cap reasons then they were surely well over the cap this season. Taranto, hopper, bruin, Whitfield and Haynes = serious salary cap issues. Why are they not being investigated?

Exactly. The issue for GWS is two things. One is that they have a problem next year which by the looks of it is probably manageable if Hopper doesn't go off the books. It is probably around the $300-$400k mark given they are wanting a player back from us and that sort of issue can be managed in a year.
The other issue is they have long term high value contracts that create issues after next year.
Trading Haynes or Whitfield helps both. They probably figured that they would do the Hopper deal at the right price because he was a free agent at the end of 2023 and they wouldn't be able to keep him.

Every club's salary cap is investigated every year

so hopper is not a salary dump but bruhn is, thus geelong dont have to cough up much for him....??
you cant have it both ways. either its a dump so you dont give up much, or if they are on low coin which hopper seems to be and bruhn should be then you cough up.
both rich AND geel. not just richmond.

lets see what geel give up for bruhn, prob only a second rounder.....yet they want the world from us!!

This can't be that much of a salary dump if we're giving up first round picks.
Only Collingwood can have no cap space and just get rid of 1 player on 900k
And then bring in Hill 300k
Mclovin 600k Florini 600k Mitchell 600k
Who's there accountant? Humphrey??

A salary dump is where a club wants someone else to pay the their players contracted salary.

Bruhn is out of contract.

It is that, and usually the selling club (GWS) provides an incentive to the buying club (Richmond) to take on said salary, like the Suns have done with Bowes and Geelong. This isn't a salary dump, otherwise GWS would attach picks trade Hopper to us, or we would send back lower picks to them.
