Yes, I know what’s supposed to happened, but excuse me for thinking that maybe it doesn’t happen for every club. I know, hard to believe that the afl might not treat each team equally…

We had 5 picks in the top 30 last year. Some years might only have 1, so it's not so bad in my opinion.

The recruitment of both Taranto and Hopper will have us right in the Premiership window, and will continue to make us an attractive proposition for future trades such as a Ben King or Todd Marshall.

Sorry if it’s mentioned, however we may not be taking all of Hop’s wage , which may be a very handy 200-300k

If that happens, sounds like that’ll be part of the exchange component of the trade and replace the option of picks coming back to us which, stick with me, might indicate another player coming in.

In saying that, if he’s on a new 7 year deal with us, how do GWS take part of his salary ? Unless he stays on his GWS deal for 1 year.

All those dancing may have started a bit early. Havn’t seen anything yet?

GWS are beginning to sweat. McCartney and now Bartel. They aren’t worrying anymore about what we might do with Graham. They are much more concerned about applying pressure to us to accept what ever it is they are asking for Hopper. However they may try and dress it up, it is a dump and they want it done as soon as possible.

Still think it is 50/50 Soldo+his salary and pick 30 for Hopper. Maybe a future 3rd as well.

All this stuff re Whitfield / Haynes being moved is exactly that, they're trying to put pressure on us. Let them, this will get done. And if it is in fact a salary dump (I have my doubts), they'll take our first next year and be happy. Which is why it was a little bizarre we overpaid for Taranto if in fact it is a 'salary dump'. However, I think I am getting to wrapped up definitionally, most people in the media just parrot things they've heard from American sports without actually knowing what they are or how they work in practice.

Bartel is kidding himself what compenstation they will get next year for Hopper. It will be one pick only. Unless of course the AFL simply decide to award something extra because GWS have become (more of) a basket case.

Maybe it is next years 1st that is still in dispute?
 
However talks between the Giants and Tigers for Hopper have stalled as GWS looks to be adequately compensated for the contracted star midfielder.
GWS need to stop *smile* us around
As someone else said Soldo is contracted too
Dunkley to be a first rounder to Brisbane Why do we have to constantly pay overs?
