Welcome to the Tigers Jacob Hopper

Yep, no bushlit. George and Soldo for Hopper. We might as well use the '3-time premiership player' tag to sell him. Whatever his problem has been, maybe a new scenario could fix him to play well again.

Would be a good ploy except that they've seen George play this year

That’s a fair point. The trade will get done one way or another but it will be closer to the end of the trade period.
Which is as annoying AF because the RFC iwas likely looking into other things too, if our interest in Logue was fair dinkum.

Geez, harsh on Nank Kev. Pretty Average? He's led the ruck division (and been huge in big games) for 3 flags.

8th in the B & F this year says he's internally regarded as a lot better than "pretty average".
And what, 2 poor finals in about 9 appearances? Reckon he won his position in every finals win.

Just gotta stay healthy.

Because we can afford to within our TPP limit and because such a payment increases the value of the incoming player to GWS, which is either at or beyond its TPP limit for next season already..

This makes the deal very different for both parties and ultimately would lessen the sum we would need to pay.

I can understand where you are coming from but It is a sad day when we are paying someone who isn't playing for us and it might restrict our ability to bring in someone else for this year or next. I don't think players like Riewoldt and Cotchin who are accepting much less next year would be very impressed ??

I look at our inside bulls – and we do lack. Taranto will be a full time bull. Cotch will be part time bull – with spells getting smaller and smaller. Prestia will be part time bull – who spends the rest of his time outside the packs where he does his best linking work. Graham – is a defensive bull – not an accumulator who gains vast meterage on a regular basis. Martin will be part time. Bolton – part time. Ross – nope – is a linking type. Sonsie – not yet a bull – and too much to expect from a second year player. Dow and RCD are question marks at best. Short – ha.

That’s one tried and tested full time inside bull. It’s not enough – nowhere near it.

I was trying to write this piece to say we were covered in the middle and Hopper is surplus to needs – but the truth, as nearly everyone else has indicated, is that we are sorely lacking.

We are well down on inside bull stakes even from a few years ago when Martin and Cotch were at their prime with significant contributions from Edwards and Lambert. Even then, we weren’t league leaders in contested ball or clearances (not that we were flogged either).

Taking Hopper restores some of the balance – but I’m not sure it even matches the inside bull depth from the recent past. Let’s hope some of the juniors step up big time next year in the manner Cumberland did this year in our forward line.

I’m on the Hopper train – skippity hop toot toot.

I don't think they would mind - they are at the end of their careers, have made excellent coin and want to get one more flag. They aren't in it for the money at this point.

heard before on trade radio someone called and said geelong should use pick 7 to get whitfield. GWS have cap issues maybe geel can jump in, give pick 7 and take whitfields big salary and help GWS.
then damo goes if that the case then geel wont have to give pick 7 as they are helping GWS with their salary cap issues. they wont need to give pick 7 up.
WTF.....
everyone saying F1 31 and soldo for us to get hopper, but for geel they are helping GWS so dont need to give up a high pick like pick 7.........
are these people feeling alright??
its ok for tigers to cough up big, but geel nah they are helping out, they dont need to give up much....

I am sure they were happy to take a cut to bring in Hopper and Taranto but I am not so sure about paying someone who isn’t even on the list.

I'm confused. Why are they wanting more than pick 31 and F1st with Hopper but then announce Whitfield and Haynes as possible trades too?

This is what they do every year and every year they pull the wool. It's impressive when you look at things from an neutral standpoint.

Its called *smile* the Tigers over at all costs or risk losing all their AFL handouts

AFL clubs must pee themselves when their players pick Richmond knowing Blair will cough up overs every time.

They need to get some experienced players in their best 22 instead of going around in circles with draftees every season.

Surely, Castagna would be offered along with Soldo as Preuss is their no.1 ruck. What other positional players do they need mostly?

They haven’t. That’s the anti Richmond media suggesting that if a Hopper deal can’t get done then other clubs with cap space eg Hawthorn or Essendon might be able to take a Whitfield or Haynes off their hands instead of them dealing Hopper to us.

Which has to be Pie in the Sky stuff surely.

Whitfield is on near a Million a year and Haynes is on pretty big coin as well if the rumor mill and pundits are accurate.

No one is taking on that surely ....... Nek Minnit ........................ Cats and Blues into Whitfield and Haynes.

Moe By the Sea Lifestyle and all that.
