Welcome to the Tigers Jacob Hopper

110% it’ll get done. But maybe not at the price some PRE’enders are expecting…..
Because we can afford to within our TPP limit and because such a payment increases the value of the incoming player to GWS, which is either at or beyond its TPP limit for next season already..

This makes the deal very different for both parties and ultimately would lessen the sum we would need to pay.
Not sure I am expecting to keep our F 1st.
No better than 50/50 at this point.
Hoping certainly and as I mentioned earlier wouldn’t be surprised if two of our players, plus TPP is involved.

if its a player id rather it be george or aarts instead of soldo.

but anyway they have preuss (who should clearly be the no 1 ruck), flynn and briggs, why do they also need soldo??? doesnt make sense to me....

and prob doesnt make sense to soldo either, as he will likely be behind preuss and unless they play 2 rucks will be in the same position he is now. difference is were going for a flag not a wooden spoon.

And I suppose you would prefer giving up George or Aarts because they have roughly zero value?

Call me crazy, but I don't think when GWS said they'd like a player that they were hoping for someone that was delist material.

To me, the equation is simple. Next years first rounder and Soldo. If GWS want more (and they do), good luck to them. We are under obligation to play nice when they aren’t. We’ll take Hopper as a Free Agent in 12 months time. And they will end up with an end of first round draft pick (at best) and run the risk of being over the cap.

We won't get Hopper
This is a AFL/Geelong thing.
The media don't want us as a challenger.
Cal Twomey reckons clubs should go for Whitfield and Haynes so it can release the cap issues with GWS and GWS can hold onto Hopper similar to Hill last year
This is all because Geelong want to go B2B.
Not sure what it has to do with the media and the AFL. It just illustrates the fallacy that many have been perpetrating that Hopper is a salary dump and the giants are desperate.
They have other options and if we want him we are going to have to pay market
I expect a deal to be done but it won’t be next years 1st and a bag of chips.
I posted 2 weeks ago that there were many who underestimated what two quality mids would cost us and that is still the case.
I get that some on here don’t rate Taranto and Hopper as highly as clearly the club does but I keep on coming back to the same issue. If we break even or better in clearances and contests around the ground we very rarely lose games. Two quality mids at their peak ages is a game changer for us, literally.

as per my previously posts on TT & JH, we need them full stop. 2023 to 2025 we will be in the premiership hunt. we have the game plan, upcoming talent and replacement with coverage of our ageing stars. draft selections in the above period will focus Lynch/Jack & Grimes/Tarrant replacements

We do need him not at the cost there asking future first , Soldo and 31 let's not beat around the bush gws can act like they don't have salary cap issues truth is they do as someone mentioned Grundy the second best ruck in the afl is going to dees for 27 with pies paying part of his salary.

Yep, no bushlit. George and Soldo for Hopper. We might as well use the '3-time premiership player' tag to sell him. Whatever his problem has been, maybe a new scenario could fix him to play well again.

Clubs with massive immediate salary cap issues don't ask for players back in a deal because they have to pay their salaries. GWS would like to get some future salaries off their books for sure but they aren't in a critical situation in 2023

We are half in the water. Might as well swim.
