I wonder how many first round picks they've had since inception. It's astonishing they haven't been able to rebuild on the run.Every trade GWS has ever made, they should have won on paper. They have been over compensated for any player to ever leave there.
Agree - expecting interest from Bombers, Kangas and GWS.Not sure about the Graham back to SA talk that keeps getting a run. He's never shown any inclination to return and has lived with his partner ever since he moved over I believe.
From a extremely quick browse, 39 at least since 2011.I wonder how many first round picks they've had since inception. It's astonishing they haven't been able to rebuild on the run.
That is where their thinking is wrong. First round picks are all well and good but the salary cap limits how many you can have.I wonder how many first round picks they've had since inception. It's astonishing they haven't been able to rebuild on the run.
Good thinking, 99.That is where their thinking is wrong. First round picks are all well and good but the salary cap limits how many you can have.
What GWS should do is add some rookies, players who will bust a gut to play. We have done that and found some beauties - Lambert Baker
So we should help them out and give them our fouth and fifth round picks
Agree. Tarranto & Hopper would be looking around and saying hows that bloke on 300k more. *smile* this I'm out 1st chanceThe media and all footy personalities are so quick to jump on us and others for apparently raiding gws players. When will the spotlight turn the other way?
They have been so overpaid for every player that ever wanted out, but they have never done anything with those picks.
Dylan shiel for a 2 top 15 picks.
Top 15 pick for zac Williams
Pick 6 for Tom boyd
2nd rounder for Adam Tomlinson
Pick 25 for Matt Kennedy
Will Settlefield pick 43 and future Carlton 2nd rounder
Jack Steele for a 2nd rounder
Heath Shaw for Taylor adams
Rory Lobb for pick 11 and 19
Devon smith for pick 11
Adam treloar for 2 top 10 picks
Every trade GWS has ever made, they should have won on paper. They have been over compensated for any player to ever leave there. There is something wrong with the foundations of that club to not have been able to take advantage how rewarded they have been for the players wanting out.
They can ask what they want for hopper and Taranto, but we can’t give overs like other clubs have and we have the upper hand with them wanting to come to us.
The other trade GWS "lost" on was Adams for a washed up Heath Shaw. The only value for other clubs in those players was Jack Steele. The rest GWS have made out like bandits.
Treloar, Boyd, Lobb and Shiel have been a disaster for the clubs they went to.
Hopefully its about to turn around.
A quick look at the GWS list says they have less players u21, u22 and u23 than we do.
and they have just 4 players (inc. Hopper) born in 96/97. their list is a mess. obviously they need to clear cap space, but they should then target guys like Graham and Baker (just 2 examples from us- could be similar players elsewhere)- good players, but hard workers, and in that mid 20 age range. but they would be forced to overpay $$$wise to get anyone to agree to move there.
it may be hard now with some of the contracts they have, but i reckon they almost need to try again with their list build. They best players are just ok, except Toby Greene, and their list of youngsters is just average.you compare that to us where our list profile is in magnificent shape. 6 players made their finals debut this year. If you add Hopper and Taranto, about a third of our best 22 is in that 24-27 peak age bracket. The other third is 150+ games experience and multiple premierships.
For a team that just won 3 flags, we are in a crazy good position.
152 games. B&F winner. 2x All Australian with Gi-aints.The other trade GWS "lost" on was Adams for a washed up Heath Shaw.
