Welcome to the Tigers Jacob Hopper

The Corrupt AFL will be pulling the strings in the background, trying to bend the Tigers over and get as much as possible.
100% the AFL wouldve been on the phone telling them 'If you don't bend them over don't come back asking for more cash'

Looking at his past interviews, he's quality. Passes the good character eye test from me, should be a perfect Richmond guy who will fit right in.

I'm also confused, the Zero hanger (mitch keating) today mentions another giant player? the post was from yesterday? any more light on this

Agree, imagine getting both Mitchell and Crouch and adding them to Prestia and Graham in a 4 X 100M relay leg, they wouldn't medal at the Senior Olympics!!
Come on now, graham is quick when he is on the receiving end of a good shove from Hawkins to get him going.

I've been thinking it will be something like 12, 19, F1 and 30 for Taranto, Hopper, 39, 57 and 59.

Impossible to know what is coming out of GWS, or from player managers,- or is being simply dreamed up by those members of our poorest quality media.
But if GWS keep upping the price, as is now being reported, clearly we can’t satisfy them.

I previously suggested transferring a paid up player, Ivan, as another way of passing over value to GWS, this while keeping our future 1st.

The move was to be supported by the trade of Fridge to Adelaide, (Best case Fridge and future 2nd to Adelaide for their future 1st, with salary saved used to help meet the cost of paying Ivan’s salary at GWS).

Posh, going back to Taranto # 1662, you proposed including both George and Soldo in such an exchange. I assume you meant that we would have to pay both their salaries as well.
We need to keep one of our better picks, imo our future first, but if we are to keep any it might cost us both George and Ivan. Hard to see though how we can afford afford to pay for both.

Firstly, Historically, the 'dreamed up numbers' tend to be close to the mark and represent negotiating positions. It may be that the rumours are true, or it may be its a self-fulfilling prophecy, but either way, it tends to be on the mark, unless Dudoro is involved.

Secondly, of course we can satisfy them. Piece of *smile*.

If hopper and taranto are worth 2 first round picks, each of our premierships players are worth 3 first round picks, we can all play this game

If there is a way to keep a 1st round pick for next year I'd love to do it, but I just don't see it.

In terms of George and Soldo, we would have already done the sums of those 2 being in our cap for next year alongside Taranto and Hopper, so if we were to trade both as part of the Taranto / Hopper trade, then if we pay for some, I assume we will pay over and above the value of a new draftee so it would be net sum to us.

The only way to get sufficient savings in is to trade a player to a 3rd party. I think Fridge to Adelaide may be a possibility but that saving would leave us with enough to pay for only one player to send to GWS, not two.
The offer to GWS would be
Soldo with his full wage paid until the end of his current contract and picks 12, 19 and 30 for Hopper, Taranto and picks 39 and 57.

I think Bully is well within his rights to question the deal. We're getting good players but it does come at a hefty price.
All trades are a gamble & so are untried draft picks.
Time will tell ultimately how it works out. Fingers crossed these lads contribute largely towards 5 or 6 years of sustained success.
both the boys are top 5 draft picks and have been prime movers in a successful side , it would take a lot of pics before we got this kinda quality ready to impact in the middle , they are at young enough age that we should get 5+ years of very good service ,,,get it done

But we will have already done our sums and included Soldo for next year, so whether he plays for us or not is irrelevant, we have space in the cap for his wage. If he is included in the trade, we would just negotiate that we would pay whatever he earns over a first year players salary which means we are net zero on our cap and GWS get Soldo essentially for a 1st years draftee wage if we did that.

From what we know, we don't need to trade anyone out to pay Hopper and Taranto, so if we were to include paying the wages of anyone we include in the trade, then the only thing we need to cover is the cost of the draftee that replaces that player on the list.

Only slight variation but Hopper was drafted at Pick 7. They will argue they want the same value for him, l we will argue that he is 7 years into his career and have him therefore discounted somewhat. I think we end up agreeing that he is worth 10-15 and we would struggle to find someone in that pick range who could impact the way he can immediately, so totally agree with you, we'll get it done.

Hopper may end up being the 1st to get done. Pick 19 plus 30 for Hopper and Pick 39.

Yea 7 years in and coming off a decent layoff due to injury , if prestia was no6 only , cerra also top 10 pic only , I’m not sure there’s a case for 2 x r1 ,,,Dylan shiel was a few years younger fwiw

People using the Treloar example of 2 1sts too, but he was 22 when he was trade. Hopper is 25 (potentially 60 games less) and Taranto is 24 (potentially 40 games less) so age has to be taken into account for these deals.

Shiel weirdly enough (as Dudoro is the greatest trader of all time) is the clear standout of the group as being the highest price paid. The other 4 give us a guide as to what we will need to pay, we should have to give a top 10 but we don't have 1 so we get less back than what the others all did.

Shiel traded in 2018 - 25 - 2 firsts (both top 10) with a 2nd coming back
Treloar traded in 2015 - 22 - 2 firsts (both top 10) with a 2nd coming back
Cerra traded in 2021 - 22 - 1 first (top 10) and a 3rd
Prestia traded in 2016 - 24 - 1 first (top 10) and a 2nd round swap / downgrade
Neale traded in 2018 - 25 - 1 first (top 10), an early 2nd, a 3rd with a 2nd coming back

Both Players will be great for US but gee ..GWS are going to have soooo many draft picks from Us , the kitty litters and there own .
Thinking they will want mostly pics but maybe one player .. George ? Soldo ?
Do we trade Graham back to Port or the Crows ? for an extra pic
Heard a few whispers of George to Carlton maybe for a pick ? (but that was in relation to us picking up Dow -Rumor / footy gossip )
Hope we don't give out future 1st pick .
