Welcome to the Tigers Jacob Hopper

Adding an A grade mid version of Hopper versus the 2023 model, could change everything.

Hopper represents our easiest pathway to an A grade mid that isn’t on the list right now.

There was and it cracked open n 2020 in after the hub. or some say the crack first appeared re alleged Rance and Higgins incident 2019, but the 2019 flag papered over any disturbance, then Rance walked.

The club was rock solid and the players held it together in 2020 against all odds and in spite of themselves until Hardwicks excursion pretty much tipped the balance and pretty much burst the bubble.

Club and the team was never the same.
Still till this day the Rance story is puzzling ?.

I’ve always thought Taranto was the more skilled of the 2.
No that’s not right , TT is a bullocking type that knocks up a big volume of ball , hopper has some moves and is a decent kick , his decision making needs attention ,too often he used a pro option like a dicky handball when a long kick would be preferred, I think this’ll be a focus ,

I agree, particularly kicking inside 50. Hopper is a beautiful kick inside 50, in a similar way to Graham. Kicks it out in front of the leading forward. We saw this several times last year and I think Lynch will love playing in front of him and leading towards him this season. Its a shame we didn't see that much last year with both being injured at various times last year.

TT wins a lot of the ball and gets us moving in the right direction (and his 2 way running is elite), but he doesn't put kicks out in front of the leading forwards like Hopper can, and you can see this in the GA's last year (I know this isn't just kicks and doesn't tell all the story) but 0.3 (TT) vs 0.8 (JH) tells a story to me. I hope we see much more of this this season.

Too many underrate Hopper. He rarely appeared 100% fit over the last season and his game goes under the radar unlike Tarranto but he is a valuable acquisition to the Tigers and if he gets fitness level up and not carry niggles, I expect him to be more influential

I get confused when peeps talk about Hopper as not a great kick, he is IMHO a very good kick, very skilled, slow , but the skill level on Hopper has never been the problem

Here is hoping he stays fit

Hopper and Tarranto should never ever be bagged by any Richmond supporter.
It's a misfortune they didn't arrive a year earlier.
Hopper was playing really well till a Adelaide player decided to dive across his legs and snap his ankle in half.
And the knobs didn't even pay for a free kick

Agree on Taranto. Scrappy but gives 100%.

Hopper is much more skilled but either picks and chooses, or sometimes just flat out gives up.

Hopefully its just a fitness thing, because if he punches out something similar to 2023 we're in for a very long 6 years.

First thing he needs to snap out of is the lazy dicky handball , he has moves , use them wheels and get going and set us up , he can do it , that’s what we need more of and we ll be much better for it

yep and he lowers his eyes when kicking inside 50 as well, which not enough of our players do

His knee has been his issue for a couple of seasons at least now. It's great he's had a strong preseason to given himself a great chance.
I just hope he holds together for the rigors of the season proper.

We (RFC) must or at the very least should have been aware of his injuries before he was signed to a seven contract. It may still go well but all in all it was a pretty ordinary decision.

I think he had 2 knee surgeries before he was even drafted. Same knee as far as I’m aware. Then at least 2 more knee surgeries at the giants.
