Welcome to the Tigers Jacob Hopper

Don't forget we can trade a player and keep that salary on our books, gives us bargain power since gws salary cap is full.

I would be very surprised if gws wants an inside mid from us. They have them already and the picks to get more a graders straight away. They will want miles in legs, gut runners, delivery inside 50, link men, or a ruck, key defenders. We have a few. Hugo, short, soldo, Miller and dare I say it - balta will all be targeted.

We don't force players out who are contracted. We're not Collingwood. It'll take picks 12, 19, and next years first and second rd picks at least to get this over the line. Maybe this yrs 2nd rounder also. We're gonna need some late draft and rookie draft magic from the recruiters in the next couple of drafts.
I think they are banking on the 5 from last year.

I would. RCD is every chance to be de listed and Dow has been very meh. Like asking for lettuce to go with your rib eye.
Haven't you heard redders, Iceberg lettuce are very, very expensive at the minute :p

My point is that, Kingsley is losing both Taranto and Hopper and you'd think that he would want to bring in a midfielder that has had some development.

I may well be wrong, he may not think that RCD or Dow have anymore improvement left in them. I don't won't to mention Graham.

All I'm saying is that I won't be surprised if one of them is part of the trade, as GWS's midfield is being gutted.

Yeah. Everything is off the charts expensive. About to go to stinkin Woolworths now actually.

I get what you’re saying but the fact we’re chasing these two guys tells you our midfield stocks are really poor - ergo why would GWS want any of them. They’ll ask for better quality player/s than those two. And it wouldn’t surprise if they could get Dawkins for free soon anyway.

Leaving aside that Short signed a 5-year deal a few months ago, his salary would preclude a team trying to shed $1.5m from its cap from taking him on.
Minor detail that.
Can clubs trade players the same year they sign a contract? I thought they banned that a few years ago.

Sam Edmund reckons The Giants want two first round picks for Taranto and a top 10 pick for Hopper. I am not sure how us or Geelong get a 10 ten pick.

If Hopper chooses us it might be something like 12, 19, next year's first and someone like Soldo for both.
Tarranto pick 12 & pick 19 2022
Hopper 1st rounder next year plus Soldo or Short.

Edmund is making it up.
They need to clear cap space. Either clear it now or they become the new Collingwood at the end of 2023.
Pick 12, 19 next yrs 1st plus a player
Would do it.
What's Geelong going to offer pick 17 & Patiff *smile* off.

Agree with that, but the gist of my original post was whether Kingsley thought that RCD or Dow had any scope for improvement and whether he may consider them as part of a trade.

Surely Kingsley is the cooler in these negotiations. Make it smoother for us.

Surely there are a couple of fringe players Kingsley might wanna take with him? Longmuir took Aish with him for example. Amon will go to Carlton because he was coached by Voss at PA. Ratten brought in Hill who knew him from his Hawthorn days. I'm sure there are other examples of this.

Amon has nominated Hawthorn I believe.

How does Carlscum fit so many players into their salary cap as there’s talk of Acres going there as well

Maybe we shouldve allow Baker to walk.
WC wouldve given us there 2nd rounder.
Pick 20
Pick 12 & 20 for Hopper
Pick 19 &1st rounder 23 for Tarranto.
GWS aren't going to Deal with Geelong.
They hate them more then we do.
I think if rocked up with those options to GWS, they would take it.
What compo would Hopper get GWS at the end of next year? End of round 1 compo??
We have the picks and players to make the deals work.
Stengle, Chol and Bulter have proven our non best 22 still are very valuable.

Yeah but the starting point for Prestia was pick 6. We’re talking about pick 13 here. Big difference.

We’re gonna have to find more than pick 13.
Agree but thats why I said pick 19 might have to be the kicker to get the deal over the line.

So effectively we will give up Picks 13, 19 & next years first round pick for Taranto and Hopper.

I am sure we will get some later picks coming back our way. Maybe their pick 39.

Someone will be involved that we don’t expect. I suspect Short or Baker because they aren’t true mids but have value.

Hope I’m wrong.
Castangna. They are crying out for small - medium forwards, especially with Hill leaving.
