My god....the two puppets on AFL360 strike again. They reckon Franklin's goal was GOTY.....WTF?? He fumbled the ball as he was running the distance and it was just a simple kick to the goal line that went through. Where the *smile* was the creativity that Rioli showed!!!

They're idiots. Eddie's goal was better than Buddy's anyway

Well done to Dan, and it won't be the last time we see him nominated for that particular award. Remember how we were looking for X factor for years? Dan's got that.

Had a similar debate with a Lions supporter yesterday. What people.dont appreciate is the entirety of the Rioli goal. The contest in the corridor, the determination to show up for the next contest on the boundary, the shake and bake, the one/two handball and then the banana from the boundary. If you sit and judge the whole go there is no way a quick bloke running away from a key defender, fumbling the ball and then kicking a vanilla drop punt from 50 even comes close

And while they doin't show it, if you listen to the commentary they do say that he started the goal from the backline. He effectively created a goal that went most of the ground. They're very rare by the one player. They also spoke about the Betts one, that was a dribble kick, it was very nearly touched by a Lion, one slightly bad bounce and that's a point.

Loved Dan's input into the Prestia goal in the 3rd. Sprinted HARD to only put on a shepherd for Lambert, not once but twice. Never once seemed to call for the ball or even want it, just to do the right thing for the team and that was to lay the shepherd TWICE.

Loved it and could rewatch the goal over and over.

Is there any news on the ankle? Did he go for surgery?

Broken foot. Not an ankle.

Wasn't at the Tiger Tuesday session so assume he had the operation that day

On his wrist band he had written "Run, Chase". Well done Rio.

They don’t need a wristband anymore

Broken foot.

I'm actually not that fussed. He will be out till Xmas but really as a young bloke coming of a long season, how much work was he actually going to do before Xmas?

It's not great but he will be right by Round 1 and can build up. The passage of play that he broke it in sums him up as a footballer and how the 2017 Richmond side won the flag. Effort, repeat effort, push the ball forward and allow another player to come in and up the pressure.

What's more impressive is that impossible overhead kick to free the ball forward happened AFTER he broke his foot.
