This one raised eyebrows. Lucky to get a new contract. Blair still expecting him to come good..

yep.
lamb touched on it - speed and kicking kept him around. he needs to find some calm in the heat of battle.

Yep. He also needs to find the ball. Had 10 disposals in the practice match like rout against the Saints in round 18.

If you can't fill your boots in a game like that how will you go when the heat is really on?

He should be our version of Mitch Duncan / Issac Smith, but he more like Aaron Fiona / Greg Tivendale
Geez if only he could play like Petticoat

did anyone see how higlet went in the GF sprint?

Ran third in his heat, didn't make the final.

His little legs were were going at 1000 steps per second :D

Doesn't use his number 1 asset his leg speed. Also is too frightened of the contest and would rather wait for the ball to spill out. If you're gonna be an outside player you really need to gut run to many contests and make it count when you get it. Last chance for him and really needs to find something next year.

Tambling. Watches the game go by. Gets involved late by virtue of his speed.

Calmness is the big issue. Tends to panic at crucial moments and mujst get that out of his game.
Whether it's an age or maturity thing that he can grow out of is the big unknown.
Hope so.

Once his body can respond as quickly as his brain makes decisions he could be a beauty.

One might also hope that it happens in 2019 as it's his fifth year at the club...probably D-day for him next year.

WOuld be interesting to know how many medium to small players after 4 years on a list with limited games (say less than 40) and few injuries go onto to be a successful AFL player. I'd say not too many but more in a strong successful team.

Can see why we offered the year, he’s fine as player 25 on your list.

But by the end of next year, he needs to be well above that to get another extension.

25 will drag out to 44 by the end of next year. Instead of improving he has gone backwards since he has started.
Not expecting much. Should've tried to trade him out.
Melbourne want pace, straight swap for Tyson

My biggest concern with him, and there are a few, is that he doesn't even use his greatest weapon which is his speed.
Can anyone remember him doing a Delideo type one two burst down the ground? He seems to be slow off the mark. This can actually be seen in his GF sprint. Needs time to wind up. This can be corrected. Nathan Foley had the same issue until he saw a running coach. Needs to get it sorted before it kills off his career

Zero presence on the field.

Is he being kept to give him one last chance, then theres the fact the club needs to have someone to delist at the end of next season.

His speed and agility have saved him this year but another zero season as this one just passed will see him most likely delisted.

Blair Hartley most likely saved him after raving about him when he was drafted.

He's fast - the next Billy Hartung - with the right tyre pumping he has got to be worth one more club. If we can talk him Up Up Up maybe we can get him Bombers bound.

Hopefully we are following the Hawthorn model of having guys play 50+ games in the VFL to develop and then appear as ready made players once the opportunity arises.

That's been the key to Hawthorn over the last 15 years, and during the 1980's before that.

I agree. Even the old Hawthorn teams used to make a lot of players cut their teeth in the 2’s for a long time.
