Welcome to the Tigers - Connor Menadue

He was very poor. Have defended him but no more. Seen enough to know he will cough it up in high pressure games. Can’t risk him in September.

Ice on his bammy after game plus elsewhere. Maybe there were excuses because part of his DNA was tuck it under the arm and take ground, even take a couple on.
Is not playing to his strengths which is supposed
To be what Tiger players do

Doesn't have a left foot which is a negative. Does not have evasive skills to cover the fact he is not dual sided. Thats why he gets caught. He needs to work on these areas if he is to remain as a AFL player. Like to kid but he is a liability for those reasons.

Me too. In the last quarter I noticed 2 incidents where he was noticeably slow of mind to react, letting his opponent get an easy possession. One was in the midfield, and the other off memory might have been when Geelong fed the ball to Ablett at the end.

Both times he did nothing wrong, but simply was beaten by opposition who read the ball faster than him. Some of his body-on-body mistakes can be reduced with persistence, but not this.

Even with the ball, he stops and props, slow of mind.

Geelong went through the middle to bypass our elite defenders positioned in the vast spaces of the ‘G, and Menadue happened to be defending ground in the middle. That’s how Geelong scored many of their goals. If we have a slight gameplan weakness defending long down the middle, then we don’t want someone like Menadue defending that weakness. So by placing Graham in that hole, and preparing for Geelong’s counter method (other teams will copy), we can close up a little loophole in our defence before finals.

Yep, this is where Houli and Broad both being out leaves a big big hole in our defence. With those two in it usually frees up 2 of those or Vlastuin / Grimes to cut off that ball movement through the middle. Menadue just not up to it

thought he tried a few things but tend to agree that something is missing

Agreed. Geelong ran it through him and he failed to stand up. Cost goals against the flow.

After Townsend in 2017, I won’t completely write any one off.

But I agree St Kev. Not for me. By a long way.

Good way to put it.
His role is only to be a backup and all going well he won't be in contention for first 22 again this year.
Shame because he has ability but not been able to produce it at the level.

I suspect his amazing performance in the Grand Final last year has played with his head a bit

Menadue lacks composure, this has been a recurring theme in all his senior appearances. The rest of the side are lightening quick with their disposal, Menadue meanders along thinking it's just another day in the VFL. He's simply not a one touch player & his footy IQ is lacking, this is completely at odds with the rest of the team. Back to the drawing board, Markov a better alternative IMO.

It seems to be confidence in his abilities and strengths. He can burn away most but rarely flicks the turbo switch. Needs to trust his instincts and not over think things.

Get him in the grand final sprint again and then get him on the trade table. Other clubs will like the speed. Hell another club situation may improve him as well. As always good luck to the guy if he can't make it with us don't begrudge him a last chance saloon elsewhere.

AFL website is reporting he and Moore will sign 1 year deals.

Right move considering the depth we're about to lose this off season.

Yep, we moved on the older guys like Conca, Miles, Lloyd, Townsend now Menadue, Chol, Markov, Bolton need to step up.
