Welcome to the Tigers - Connor Menadue

The problem we've been having with Menadue since he was dropped last year is that he's paint-by-numbers. Almost work-to-rule.

He hasn't played near enough to the edge. Not enough risks. Not enough frenetic. He's frightened he'll make a mistake.

I thought he took a step tonight and I expect him to keep his place. Importantly he ran out the game. He's finding the level.

When we get his head right Connor is going to be the bloke who runs the length of the ground with a minute to go to find space in the goal square. We did get a glimpse of his best with that roved ball from Jack's hands that he put through to... Rioli? Quick thinking. Risky. The sh!t.

Connor is smart. He'll get there.

Was extremely ordinary. Improved to fairly average. Only young but an indulgence to gift him games IMO.

Yeah exactly.

This game this week was off the back of an 8 disposal effort last week also.

Does not deserve his spot right now.

If we lost he'd be getting plenty I reckon.

Agree, MD. IMO he's improved from very poor to not entirely useless in only a week. (I thought he was better defensively tonight.)

We're gifting games to Menadue, Oleg and Shorty atm. I'm ok with it and optimistic about Connor. :thumbs

I just don't see it with this guy but plenty on here do and the coaches do.

The pass to Rioli in the last was a nice piece of work.

Fair enough, MD. I sometimes think he's doing his best to hide it. ;D

We still need to get games into Menadue, Oleg, Short etc and blood a few more newbies this year with a game or two - this run of team form will accelerate their learning no end

Where's the pace he showed as a junior? He should be doing what Hunt is doing for the Dees.

Yep, and credit to the coaching staff they seem to be doing that. Short, Menadue, Markov, Rioli, Butler and Castagna all played against the Dees, so that's nearly a quarter of the 22 who are young and up and coming. Given the form of the VFL side, the likes of C. Ellis, Garthwaite and Stengle would all appear to be in consideration for games as the year goes on.

The days of persisting with mature aged cast offs and battlers for their experience appear to be over.

Agree. (And sorry to be a smart ar$e, but it's almost a third.)

menadue will be a serious player.

well suited to AO next week.
He does look serious. I hope he turns out to be a good player.

I think we have at least 4-5 youngsters who all have the tools to be very good players playing in the vfl this weekend. Ellis, menadue, garthwaite, Bolton, stengle. I also like Callum Moore and reckon he is developing nicely, as is Soldo

Depth in young players is looking quite strong imo.

Chol I am not sure about or Lennon.
