Welcome to the Tigers - Connor Menadue

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

I thought there were better signs last night. Connor is taking them on more. He'll cough it up. He'll learn and get cleaner quicker and smarter with the ball and hopefully bigger and stronger.

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

Made some mistakes last night but I thought he was more involved in the game. A better result than going missing like he has in recent games.

Massively overrated around these parts.

Shows something but is miles behind Rioli.

Thats like saying a horse is overrated because its 5 lengths behind Winx.

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

Love his endeavour and despite turning the ball over, he doesn't drop into his shell as he constantly was looking to take the game on. His disposal by foot last night was pretty average but I thought a lot of his in tight handballing was good.

If we decide to give him a rest or a week or 2 in the 2's, we need another runner so you'd think Markov would be the one to play in place of him.

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

Are we sure he had a poor game? Taylor called him by every name but his own name

Must admit I've gone off him a bit in the last few weeks. Great endeavour but panics way too much, even considering how young he is. His skills are pretty rough around the edges.

Having said that I'd drop Chaplin, Morris and Hunt before I'd even consider sending him back to the magoos.

That's me as well, definitely on the fence with him long term but he must play. The lack of composure is what worries me. Hard to learn. You have it or you don't.

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

Nah his composure is fine. Had it in spades earlier in the year.

Just lacking a little touch and confidence ATM.

No harm in him going back for a few weeks if the VFL team can keep performing to he can build again.

Otherwise keep him in the one's.

Yep agree with this.

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

His composure is likely suffering due to the distance he's covering. I'd say he's still learning the balance of his engine. Late in the third he was continually in the play and showed some good inside smarts.

So your suggestion is to send him back to the VFL team or keep him in the one's. Just wondering what other options there are?

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

He is starting to take them on more. Keep him in!

agree. still afraid to use his main weapon - his pace and long stride. Needs to tuck it under and run.

Rest completely to freshen up?

Actually add that as an option leysy advocates as well.

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

Doesn't need a rest, keep him going. Will thrive as the season gets longer.

i was going to post the same then i read your post. now i disagree.

nah, at some stage i wouldnt object to him going back the vfl to try to have some 20+ possession games and kick some goals.

So you'll be happy no matter what happens then!

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

I thought his game against Sydney was pretty good and certainly the best he has had for a number of weeks. He is definitely improving and doesn't seem overawed anymore, but I think he physically needs a rest for a week.

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

Unless he needs a rest keep getting games into him. I am sure the club would be carefully managing his workload at this stage. If you remember what Blair Hartley said on the 2014 draft video "he will take 3 years". Better to get to that 3 year mark with 30 games under his belt than only a handful.

Yep I've noticed in recent weeks that menadue , ellis and even rioli have clearly been urged to carry the ball. They are nt much good to us giving red hot dinky handballs ,,,,Miles too has got in his bike

Menadue made a few blues but we re seeing him work through getting to the next level, that he can really have an impact on a game and start nudging 20 possies
