Welcome to Richmond - Jayden Short

During the Blues purple patch in the third he was directly matched on Fogarty who kicked 3.
He's such a loose defender. Doesn't play anywhere near tightly enough on his opponent.
Doesn't get goal side of his opponent. Doesn't like body contact particularly.
Surely they're having a real good look at the tape & will make a change.
Trezise surely. Smith as well.

Form lines out of date???????Really? Ranked 5th best amongst the Tigers so far this season.Last year had his injury problems but still contributed in the top third of Tiger players. So you want to right the ship? Think there are others that come first in this Titanic of seasons.
When you say ranked 5th best amongst the Tigers what do you mean?

According to which metric?

There’s years of tape for them to have a look at.

He’s always taken shortcuts. We’ve got enough problems - let him be someone else’s

look on the AFL website
Where is this exactly? I can see it says 5th best for the game but not the year (remembering he's played equal 3rd most games for the season and also top 10 for total game time). However looking at the specifics the stats only include the basics including the 6 kick-ins. It doesn't penalise bad stuff like how he leaks goals to opposotion like a sieve or bad or broken tackles. They highly overrated disposal counts. That's why I prefer Supercoach as a guideline, it does a better job at penalising and on that stat he was 16th Tiger for the game. The thing is he's contracted until 2027. He will keep on getting games and he knows it.

Reckon he's always had these limitations. Always had questionable attack on the ball, average one on one and kicked blindly.

He's just being exposed now in a poor team.
There's a reason some are still playing like Short and others like George aint.

George burnt himself to a crisp physically and mentally for the RFC and the side and Dan Rioli came close to doing the same until Hardwick recognised the symptoms and moved Dan to save him. Jayden hasn't gone anywhere close to those sorts of efforts.

In 2017 his cheat football and lack of doing the hard stuff cost him his spot to Broad and Broad didn't allow him to get it back, like George and Daniel and Lambert, and Cotchin and JR8, Sheds and K Mac and Bash and Dave and Grigg (rucking) Grimes and Towner, Broad sacrificed himself and his game for the good of the team.

Don't think the same can be said for Short.

If Yze is legit then short needs to be dropped.

Unaccountable defender. Been poor for a long stretch. Giving us nothing besides turnovers.

If he's selected then at least we know we're tanking

Didn’t squib a contest tonight and didn’t cost goals, in best 8 tonight, easily.

Either rest or drop Short for Smith, getting as many games into the cubs should be Ooze's number one goal

Was serviceable. Many worse out there. Just has no hurt factor though and quite loose on his opponent. A Rioli can afford to be as he's also damaging with ball.

What our dramatic dip in performance as a club has highlighted is just how much we don’t need this type of player at the moment.

Throw out the “stats” and just watch him. He’s happy to run at top speed when there’s a cheap handball to receive. Then watch him jog casually in the other direction when there’s a defensive assignment.

The game as it’s played in 2024 demands that players can both apply pressure without the ball and withstand pressure when in possession. Watch any Short involvement - it’s clear he can’t do either.

Gez you guys have low expectations for that performance yesterday for someone in our leadership.
