Welcome to Richmond - Jayden Short

Interestingly he got 5 coaches votes for the Adelaide match. One of 3 players who got 5 and noone got more than 5, the others being Balta and Bolton. That means 2 of them got BOG and no votes from the other coach.

Seems like maybe even the coaches were split on the quality of his game.
That's what it means, for sure, sin. Interesting, eh? I'm hinting at this conundrum in my post above.

Whom did Yze hate? He didn't hate Short. Short did exactly what he asked him to do. Despite reports to the contrary Balta got lost and let it out the the back. Plenty of improvement to come. Shai destroyed the Adelaide midfield but did he do what was asked going the other way?

I think it is certain that Yze gave votes to Short. Never has a player been more conspicuously coached.

My thinking is that Yze burned Balta. Wants him forward. We'll be able to work it out over time.

Ackshelly, it'd be really funny if Yze burned Short.

Honestly getting praise on the back of one game and he wasn't great either. First one I will trade.

The same one you did, i must have had my eyes open.
well put on some glasses because the eyes are letting you down.Given the fact that Short got votes for the game perhaps you might suggest they were asleep also.

Im not a huge Jayden Short fan- for an elite kick his kicking is not always elite. But he was better on Thursday, and a big part of that was the change in game plan to hit up short targets. This meant he didnt blindly bomb long like he can be guilty of doing.
I wouldnt have given him votes, but he played a good game.

He is trade for another player job. Defensively sub standard and his kicking and decision making are no longer weapons. It’s just bamboozles me that he doesn’t run out of that square and kick it out to almost CHF. Instead it’s chip kick to pocket. Try on wing or trade

Stats are often misleading. His disposal stat looks good but again, too many of his disposals were not effective and were of little help to the team

We Could get gold in return. Trade Time
He lives with Baker. Combo deal
Should stooge a north or Essendon.
He gets it a million times but would average under 5 for goal assists..
His kicks inside 50 either pin point the opposition or they bounce back off the moon

This bloke IS THE PERFECT TRADE .

Everyone talks him up as a superstar and hes far from it.

Hés panicky hopeless in one on ones and cannot defernd and never has been able to defend, , does not put himself in as he should and cheats for easy kicks and stats pads.

Turns the footy over more than blokes who are unskilled..

Short is the one senior player that the club wouldn't really miss if he went.

Rioli, Baker, Bolton, Vlastuin, Broad, Nank Balta, Lynch yep we'd miss all of them.

Short I doubt hed be missed much at all.

Ive never really been a fan of his, but hes gone back to cheating again.

Great post craig. He is playing for his stats. One Score Involvement from almost 600m "gained". He is a liability defensively and doing nothing the other way. No leadership. Hopefully Dimma chases him.

Give Brown his role as the loose or exit man from defence. He may not have Short's aerobic capacity for the role but he may use it better.

Short still bungled on the night but mistakes are overrated. He played one of the best games of his life. Because he was coached and he responded. Bravo. This bloke showed he has improvement in him. We need him to do all that in AFL class. That'd be this week.
Reckon you were and are way off on Short. He has played the same ineffective game all year. Nothing to do wiith coaching, a 150 plus game player does not need coaching. What Short is missing is the 7 other guns covering for him making him look good. Not hard to look OK when you have the likes of Rance/Astbury/Grimes/Vlastuin/Broad/Houli/Balta/Baker surrounding you. He is borderline embarrasing in 2024.

Being exposed for the average footballer he is.

Yep one score involvement is a telling stat.

Two weeks in a row with media best players.

Score involvements? We can barely score.

If you get a good deal take it. But if three out of Baker, Rioli, Graham and Short go we are stuffed.

Being named in journos best means nothing - most of them don't watch the game and use supercoach. Metres gained is one of the most useless stats in isolation there is.

I would lose Short & Graham in a heartbeat - a HBF'er who can't defend and isn't dangerous and a mid who can't get it - where do I sign? Brown can play the Short role and McAuliffe the Graham role.

For an "elite" kick he continually bombs long to his team mates disadvantage.
Look before you bounce Shorty.
