Welcome to Richmond Chris Yarran

Two prized draft picks blown, zero games thus far from Yarran. Foolish is the only way to describe this.

I trust Hawthorn have due diligence, something that is patently flawed at Richmond.

Gotta agree with snake on this one.

Yarran has only missed 7 games. What if he plays 10 this year, then wins our B&F next year, and the second round of this years draft yeilds a bunch of busts?

If I said 'hopeful is the only way to describe this', that'd be just as silly as 'foolish'. actually , it wouldnt be AS silly.

Didnt the hawks take some tall in the first round who'd been in car crash and busted everything and never played a game? cant remember his name.

jesus, weve lost 6 games. 3 of em to really good sides

We can speculate all we want but these foot problems seem to be ones that are very hard to pick how long they will take. I don't think our medicos are alone with this.

As for the Yarran trade being a bust I would prefer to wait and see. It could be a bust but I also have no doubt that when fit and firing he is a much better player than many here give him credit for.

All clubs get it wrong sometimes. What did Hawthorn pay for O'Rourke who is a very ordinary player imo ? The key is to get it wrong less times than the others.

Yarran is cream, would slot in at a top 4 club. These types shouldn't be targeted when our squad is lacking in just about every area. It may only be 6 losses but the margin has always been 6 goals+. We are miles off the pace, wouldn't be surpised if we take the spoon this year.

Disagree. Our best from last year plus Yarran competes with any side.

That's all very well Bullus but when we recruited Yarran we had just finished 5th with 15-7 in the H&A. Sounds pretty close to a top 4 side to me.

Going thru plantar fasciitis atm and its bloody hell. It can last anywhere up to a year so I can really empathise with Yaz.

Me too. It's an absolute bastard. A very persistent injury and very hard to get right.

Beau Dowler. But the Hawks have won 4 flags from 8 finals series since they drafted him in 2005. So no one really gives a *smile* about their mistakes because they obviously get so much right.

We are the anti-Hawthorn.

After three seasons of finals, we are in a massive hole, looking like we are going backwards and missed our window as teams go past us.

You ain't gunna get sunshine & lollipops right now. And rightly so.

not asking for sunshine and lollipops, and my own posts haven't been rosy at all. Its just the relentless unbalanced over the top negativity. Also, we just seem to be having the same discussions over and over again. All seems kind of pointless. I've actually been thankful for Zips lately. Has been a steadying, measured influence compared to most!

Be careful Sin. The good residents of Salem will come out and label you a witch.

Well TS, our present scenario was foretold and forewarned many times over over the last 2 and a bit seasons.

The same person making the same mistakes. I hoped against hope that our better players could survive and thrive against the odds. Maybe they still can.

Our present however could have been avoided and although the supporters of Hardwick on here dont make a difference to his fate, his continued defence in the face of the obvious can become very tedious.

So its not just negativity that can be a downer. So in a way I feel your pain.

shame Yarran isn't up and about. and from DHs press conf today it sounded like he is still a way off. I reckon the club had some hopes pinned on Yarran, and when this nightmare injury emerged a bit of deflation happened.

yeah, 20/20 hindsight is a great thing. Maybe we were guilty of over rating our list and it certainly looks like it now but when a club has come within a bee's appendage of top 4 twice in the last 3 years then it is somewhat understandable.

Sounds pretty close to Danny Frawley as well, and Locked & Loaded, the common theme being we took the easy route with retreads and are now paying the price.

But looking at this logically, who honestly felt our rucks were set?

Who honestly felt our midfield depth was sound?

Who on the list was going to replace Chaplin?

Three finals losses should have been a timely reminder that there were still big holes in the list, far more important issues than securing an outside runner who had spent time in the VFL and now has career threatening injuries.

yeah agree with that. Still, we are damned if get hard headed inside mid cast offs (townsend), and damned if we get outside cream (yaz).

I was for the yaz trade but in hindsight, wish we had swapped bellis for him and kept our picks.

hindsight's easy.

Ellis?? Crazy trade. Lennon was the one who could have been swapped, that would have been the perfect scenario and one that I would have fully supported.

When you're losing, everything you're doing or have done looks wrong.

30 years of losing has delivered all the lessons in the world. Choose to acknowledge them or be content with mediocrity.
