Welcome Sam Banks

He looks a player

Seemed to spend a lot of time on the bench today. Not sure what his game time percentage was
He must've *smile* up badd because they have dropped him this week.
He shouldve continued to stay in the best 22.
We need as many kids in our side gaining experience regardless if they make mistakes

Seriously? What are we going to do with Short then? The kid got a taste and I have no doubt will solidify a spot in the 22 over the next couple of years.

Stuff to get omitted and a pretty tough call to make and the kid was improving.

His time will come.

Must watch different game to me
Kicked the ball out of bounce twice and was caught “ spectating “ on many occasions
Had to be dropped with Short returning
Great experience for him to be able to debut this year
Got his taste at AFL level
2024 will be his year

Was given a solid month to show his wares and to be brutally honest, the results were underwhelming. Contrast that with Coulthard who showed more promise in a single quarter despite only arriving at the club six weeks prior.

I’m not writing Banks off just yet but there are concerns.

I think they have worked out that there is a critical mass of players with under 15 game’s experience (or first year players) that you can carry before it impacts on performances - with Bauer (1 game), Cumbo (15 games) and Coulthard (2 games) all coming into the side plus Tylar Young a first year player (15 games) that’s 4 - that’s about max when your playing a hardened team like the doggies.

Our sub will also be very inexperienced also (Banks, Clarke, Mansell or Dow).

Personally, I like the changes (apart from Dusty)

I think he's been pretty ordinary in 3 of the 4 games he's played with the only good performance being his last term against the bottom side.
No issue with his dropping tbh.

I don't think he's horrible. Given his performances in VFL, do you think he's going to learn more in AFL or VFL level?
I don't think we're finals worthy, so don't care if we make them, if we do i think we'll be one and done anyway. I'd be investing in our youth.
He's been very good at VFL level. Let's try see if he can adjust?

He comfortably accounted for Pickett. Had three glaring disposal errors. And got lost for the first time in his AFL career in the dying minutes of the game.

Noteworthy is that for most of the game young Banks kept his head while Balta, Young, Grimes and Vlastuin were falling over each other to lose position and give up the ball. Banks demonstrated superior leadership for most of the game.

He did not attack the game. Once he understands that the Picketts of this world are his victims he will do that. We sent Mansell back to get some run and just get the ball out of D50. We needed Banks to do that.

That was a hot game. In the main Banks was at least at the level defensively. His attack let him down.

When he returns to the VFA he knows what to do. A player of his quality can wipe the floor with the VFA. Flog opponent. 30 touches. Game destruction. It's time.

We saw the desperation. Now let's see the anger and the resolve.

I didn't say he's been horrible. I just don't think he's at AFL level right now.
Prefer to have a look at other options.
Nah, prefer to keep him in, like any player they need games in them to develop. The trouble with being a good club that has been performing well is that it’s hard to get the youth in so they can develop. Now we aren’t so good we need to give the young uns more opportunities to get games into them.

I think 4 games is a good taste for Sam's development heading into next season. I don't like keeping players in who aren't helping us win.
He now has a better idea of the level expected.
