Welcome Josh Gibcus

Just did a quick check.
Found the following.

Good enough for Man United and England, good enough for Richmond.
Some of the contempt for overseas medical facilities smacks of a bit of ignorant racism.

Got my teeth done in Thailand years ago. Miles ahead of Australia in terms of skill, service and hygiene.
Most of their hospitals treat the rich Asians - Japanese and Chinese mostly
Fair call but it's a stretch to promote Thailand and dentistry in this conversation. My wife made a practice out of fixing Thailand's f'ups. There are many many three for frees out there who wished they'd spent their dosh on hookers and tatts instead of "dentistry". I'm sure there are good ones but it's certainly not recognised as a top location for dentistry. It's just cheap and you typically get what you pay for.
On UAE the medical system is top notch if you can afford it. The world's best specialists typically have offices and fly in and out as required, doing multiple ops in a day. They basically rent a bed and get tax free dosh for the work they perform. I got my knee reconstructed at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi by a top US surgeon. I think he did 3 or 4 that day. It cost approx AUD50K with physio but my medical insurance covered 100% including prescriptions for a AUD20 excess.
Three for Free :)

Glad you posted that.
I was talking about the top line dental clinics and NOT the shopfront dentists lining the road you pass between your motel and Bangla Road bars.
I'm sure there are dodgy surgeons in Abu Dhabi as well.
As you say "you typically get what you pay for".

Noticed this:

Really hope this kid gets his body right & can play a role next year. He shapes as a big part of our list management plans.
if he can hold down a key defensive spot then we have some trade capital going forward.

That bad hamstring injury could have ramifications on his future in AFL . He is a valuable player at both ends of the park so I hope some surgeon uses their magic to get hi primed up ready for 2024. If he struggles with his hamstring, that would affect interest from other clubs regarding trading. Personally I want to see his back in our 22 and carry on where he left off in 2022

Well this has just wrecked my day. A hamstring injury so rare there’s only one other similar one that we’ve located… and he’s only 20 :cry:please work your magic Qatar!

Given the rarity of the injury, maybe we can cut Luke some slack on this one?
Some one always has to be blamed for something that goes wrong so Luke was the prime candidate even though it was beyond his control.
Seriously, I hope the experts in Qatar can fix Josh's problem as he has so much potential to give us and the game. They do seem to be the worlds sports injury specialists

Really unfortunate for Gibcus and RFC. It isn't really an athletic injury or genetic disposition that has us in this position. Unlikely risk realised with any surgery. Our age old friend bacteria is to blame. Sounds like it's done a right job on his hamstring too. Even nerve endings were mauled. The more detail that's revealed the less confident I am he will return to his explosive best and that makes me really sad. Like Coughlan sad.

I hope the club is not banking on Josh playing next year. This is grim.

The curse is well and truly awake again, after briefly falling asleep between 2017 - 2020.

And oh how I look forward to a return to the good old days, when the club was cursed with bad luck stories, and were mediocre in all facets of the game

The days when we could wallow in self pity, and when the headlines would read “listless” “pathetic” and “embarrassing”

It kind of feels like returning home to be honest.

The wreak of *smile*, is descending once again upon punt road, and it feels like being reunited with an old friend.

“Has the specialists stumped “ . What is Luke Meehan ? Probably a physio I am guessing or something like that.

We really are hard on the fitness guys sometimes. They rely heavily on specialists for the more complex injuries. Even the club doctors are not orthopaedic specialists.

Sometimes it is just bad luck, which it looks like it was in this case.

Michael Mitchell retired due too many concussions.
Michael Gale shoulder issues
Tony Free never recovered from his knee ACL
Couglan knees issues
Scotty Turner Knee issues
Justin Charles hamstring issues

I think we just need to relax.

They aren’t looking for a cure of cancer.

He is 20 years old. Still plenty of years ahead of him. He is already running at 85% capacity. It will just take a very defined program which is why he is going overseas to help put that together.
