Welcome Josh Gibcus

He has been sent to overseas to help with the injury. He is going on a program to help him fully recover and to limit any re occurrence of the hamstring injury.
Fingers crossed he is back for the start of the presesson.
Really pro active by Yze.
Yep, great to hear.

Has the injury heeled or it's just a program to make him stronger.
Reading between the lines they have tried everything in Australia and it hasn't come good and now they are sending him to Dubai to sort it out for good.
He is a pick 9 not a pick 99 and they will try everything to get him right

Yeh unlike others this worries me that it has been nearly 12 months and is no where near being corrected.

There's been some horrible examples of hamstrings ruining careers, Nathan Freeman probably the worst case. Fingers crossed for Josh, hopefully modern medicine can weave some magic. Cyril did well enough but you never knew when that ping would occur, Treloar has also battled through numerous hamstring tears.

Only have to look at Grimes to know early hamstrings can be overcome. But for every Grimes I guess there is a Freeman.

Other concern is whether Gibcus can retain the explosiveness and leap that make him stand out as an extraordinary key position player.

Sounds like we’re cutting costs and meeting the German hamstring expert Muller-Wohlfahrt half way in Dubai.
Hope he can get his baby calf through customs

Dubai? First time I have heard of it being the centre for excellence for Hammy’s. But there you go.

Gibcus trip o/s for his hammy has been planned for some time and Yze had nothing to do with it.

He's likely to do more damage to it in Dubai! I'll keep an eye out for him.

Don’t beat me for saying so but a doctor friend recons every time a player goes overseas for treatment there’s funny business going on ala Essendrugs. Thoughts?

Personally I reckon regulated therapeutic use of roids/banned substances to assist healing major injuries should be ok as per non athletes. It’s a shame to lose a potential talent due to these freak injuries.

Dont they have similar sport drug codes in these countries too? So those doctors are at risk of legal action or losing their medical licence.
International sports?
Wada?
I cant see how being in Dubai (or Germany) is a sufficient cover to then get away with breaking the drug code.

I would wonder if they are stalked all the way to Dubai by the fella with the sample cup and if they have to register etc.

maybe someone like TBR could answe
But i'd guess there is an element of risk, especially by the medical centre in Dubai. Internationally renown? No doubt they'd have local pressure to have compliant practices.
And if an AFL player went to an unknown quack in Manila? I'd think there'd be more attention if this happened.

Just did a quick check.
Found the following.

Good enough for Man United and England, good enough for Richmond.
Some of the contempt for overseas medical facilities smacks of a bit of ignorant racism.

Got my teeth done in Thailand years ago. Miles ahead of Australia in terms of skill, service and hygiene.
Most of their hospitals treat the rich Asians - Japanese and Chinese mostly
