Welcome Josh Gibcus

The trigger will be more to do with the kms he is covering and the repeat efforts than the actual minutes.

I'd imagine yesterday would have been well down on those markers because we spent a fair bit of time set up watching GWS work the ball around to try and shift the zone, so he's not running as much.

Round 1 he was up and down the ground as the ball pinged around a bit more so he's doing more work in less minutes.
I was going to hit you up on exactly that point, TBR. Thank you. We'd love to see some of those numbers.

Might also have something to do with our line up.
Rd 1 we started with Tarrant, Grimes, Broad and Balta down back.
He was effectively our 5th tall. With Balta forward and Miller replacing Grimes he moved to no.3.

there were 3 long penetrating, accurate & attacking passes that all hit a moving target.

very very good signs

And Draft Central listed kicking as an area for improvement o_O .

"Gibcus doesn’t have many weaknesses to his game as a developing key defender but the one area that can undo his hard work is his kicking, where he has often bitten off more than he can chew"

I for one am liking what Gibbo is chewing at the moment ;) :)

Looking forward to seeing Biscuit up against Max King this week. Biscuit will be backing himself to win that battle.

Put him up against the Kings now. He might as well the 10 year battle now
when we thumped them the 1st time we played them in 2021, we double teamed King after Q time and kept him quiet. They also had a few of they key rucks out. The 2nd game at the MCG was a Richmond shocker with one of our lowest scores produced in ~100 years !

So do we still have the people melting we didnt take Hobbs with our 1st pick ?

Always said this kid is a beauty and would be a dream if he was available at our pick

dreams can come true

I have not seen Gibcus have one worrying clash contest in the first two rounds, he is your classic interceptor or arriving to contests with impeccable timing to spoil or mark somewhat avoiding too much physical contact.
No sign of the club shielding him either, only one player had more than his TOG of 88% on the weekend and that was Ben Miller.

**As an aside: Jeez Josh is an impressive trainer, quite astounding really for one so young.

Just watched the replay. I thought his weakness was his kicking? Saw none of that against the Giants.

Think the comment was that he bites off more than he can chew when kicking sometimes, someone re posted the comment a few thread pages back. Long stretch but a bloke called Dusty does that sometimes too. Can look bloody ordinary when they *smile* up the fancy near impossible kick, but by hell it can open the game up n tear opposition sides apart when they get it right.
Didn't specifically watch Gibbers kicking against Gee Whizz on the weekend but I still managed to see some pretty tidy n impressive kicking from the kid.

I'd guess tarrant gets him
Disagree. Taz does not have the agility. Throw the boy in deep. I don't care if he gets beaten. His attitude will make his progress only faster as he will learn from a beating. This bloke looks like our best pick since Dusty.

Not disagreeing with any of this. I just reckon the coaches will try tarrant as first option
