Welcome Hugo Ralphsmith

Was very good tonight despite only seven disposals. I think he'll take a lot of confidence out of that.

Our long term K-Mac / Marlion replacement

Has improved his reading of the play. Speed is one thing, but you have to know where to go and he has learned a lot and is a lot better at anticipating where he is likely to be most effective.

Never in doubt

Wanted him prior to the draft and was wrapped when we selected him , Possessions will come in time and will be a player

His numbers don't do justice to his game. Some of his spoils from reading the flight of the ball certainly saved us and he is now using his speed to great effect. Deserves his place in the team

7 possessions against the lowly Crows isn't going to change my opinion just yet but he's going ok.
Didn't get much of the pill but impacted contests n interrupted the flow of oppo play regularly, did plenty of hard work that doesn't come up on the stats sheet.

Hugo was outstanding last night not big on stat sheet
Was everywhere ran up and down the wings all night providing defensive pressure shepherding running flat out spoiling marks

No doubt he did some good things. I'm just not as excited as some.
He had 7 possessions, 5 clangers & 43% disposal efficiency.
A lot of hard running & some good defensive work but it’s marginal improvement IMHO.

I’m with you there mate , doing a lot of things better , running smarter , keeping the kicking simple, putting the body on the line , better but far from a lock Premiership wingman at this point .

Better signs

I used too think 'meh - another flighty outside type who's skills crumble under pressure' ... but I gotta give Hugo credit, over the past few games he has been showing some intensity, bustling strength and desperation to go with his pace. If he can keep it up - should have a good career on the wing.

Yeh, he needs to be more damaging with his kicking to make it. But at least he showed a real competitive edge that I haven't seen from him before.

But he must improve his ability to hit targets.

No question he's improving and benefiting from continuity, not only from multiple games, but from a set position on the wing.
Another to have blossomed unde Yze and opportunity from our long injury list.
But with questionable decision-making and DE, I still doubt he can be in a best 22 when we are back challenging for the top four.
Strongly prefer over Banks, but unfortunately that's not saying much.

He has been unbelievably good in the last month.
He has copper a couple of hits and he has bounced straight up.
Really happy with his improvement

This is what Kmac does so well, and what makes him so effective on the wings. Runs all day. Impacts contests. Goes again. And again. And yeah, the sheer physical effort of playing this sort of game impacts his disposal at times.

Marlion too. He gets there, he impacts the contest, and he does it over and over and over until the coach does something dumb like asking him to play forward or ruck or something.

I always knew Hugo could run. But I didn't think he had Kmac's sheer bloody-mindedness to get to contest after contest, or Marlion's love of putting the hurt on chumps. Looks like I was wrong.

He's levelling up every week. I'm not worried about the possession count, that'll come in time. I'm not worried about the disposal efficiency, that'll come too. I'm excited by the emerging mental strength, and the mongrel. It's looking like we might have one of the wings sorted for the future.

He was interviewed on Dwayne's World on SEN today. I didn't hear the whole thing, but they played a little snippet when he mentioned sending Dusty off in his 300th on Saturday night. He quickly tried to explain it, but I'm sure people are wondering if he's accidentally let the cat out of the bag.
