Welcome Hugo Ralphsmith

At half time yesterday I had delisted him. By the end of the game he's holding on by a thread. Still unsure if he is going to make it or not. Not sure if we should persevere and see if he comes good or give Banks a shot at it now?
Persevere.

His field kicking worries me , dosent seem to weight the ball well. Can’t see him having a future at half back as hes not a great one on one player, however even though the opposition was woeful his second half was improved, I’d give him more weeks , like to see him play with attack and flair as a wing or high half forward.

Langdon would be a great role for Hugo as his a *smile* kick too

Don't see it at all one for me that should go. Maybe can we try him as a small forward any chance ?.

He’s still a kid learning his craft at the top level.
He has some tools to work with, with plenty of improvement in him.
Thats up to him to work hard on his deficiencies and his game. Like many other players. There aren’t too many 1st to 3rd year players that are the finished product.

I wonder how much work our development coaches do with our young players.

Happy with his endeavours, happy with his physical capabilities. Not happy with his disposal. I ask myself, is this a case like Matty White, where he had to learn to slow a step before he kicks or does he just have bad skills/poor decision making ability. White was never going to be a damaging kick (for us), but was able to go from a bad to average kick imo.

I just can't see any signs of improvement, or any change in Ralphsmith's approach. I'd be ruling a line through him personally.

He’s only 24 games into his career. Still has plenty of upside if he works hard enough.
I wouldn’t be in a hurry to give him the flick just yet

The run out of the midfield to hit a leading Sampson on the chest was nice and could be a glimpse of the future.

Pace. We lack it, he has it. Does he have enough poise to slow down his mind while moving fast?

Dunno but keep playing him.

You might be right. Turned the ball over 12 times out of 68 disposals this year. (67% Disposal efficiency - for an outside mid/flanker that's low for me)
38 out of 188 last year. (his disposal efficiency last year was quite good at 78%).

I'm not sure why, apart from the way our team are playing overall, but all his numbers are down on last year.

With respect again the raw stats are just that. It's when, where & how that drives the doubt. That doesn't show up in basic disposal efficiency numbers.

Dunno why anyone wants to make a definitive decision at r6.

We already have George gone, then Tarrant Cotch and Jack likely. At minimum
Might be a few others ahead of Hugo
No 1st round so at best its a r4 pick.
So why be so keen to cut a 21 yo?

Not a fan. Gotta say.

Average skills and negotiable attack on the ball are not a good combination.
