I have a horrible feeling that Nathan may become trade bait at seasons end after his last 2 injury prone seasons...hope I'm wrong.

Id listen.... if it had Boak or Dangerfield in the conversation, and not our pick 4

Re: Welcome back Nathan

love dangerfeild and boak to be seriously gone after by us....esp boak....but foley will never be traded..way way way to important

Re: Welcome back Nathan

Unfortunately the news I'm hearing about Nathan isn't good. I wouldn't be holding my breath to see him back this season. Am expecting him to have more surgery soon with high hopes of a full recovery. Shattering for Nathan but better to get things sorted out now, rather than the end of the season, and hopefully get a full pre-season under his belt ready to help lead us to glory in 2011.

Re: Welcome back Nathan

Yes, thanks again to the medicos of last season who not only ruined Richo's last season, let Cuz play on when clearly injured in Round 1 and and miss 6 weeks and now have jeopardized Foley's future because of mismanagement last season.

Thanks............thanks alot.

Mb's little birdy was right on the money.

I don't think that's really the case because what has happened since his last surgery couldn't have been predicted back then.

VERY disappointing news. :(

Indeed. Four top flight games in almost 365 days is a concern. Got work MB you got this one spot on.

The long term future of Foley has to be in question. Heading into the Coughlan/Brown box.

WIth this many questions would getting a 2nd round pick from the AFL for a Gold Coast move be a bad thing?

In top form he is undoubtly in our top 6 but if the medical team thinks otherwise would you get the deal done? No safe bet that Foley 2011 can get back to his 08 form. It is a tough one but that is what list management is all about. Making the hard calls.

If it's so obvious captain then why have we been so bad at it?

We made the hard calls on so many. Our track record shows us making hard calls on so many players doesn't it?

Yeah hard calls, obvious. ::) And that is what Foley is in 2010 a tough call.

2nd round pick?
On that basis I'd say a firm no Scooper.
He's worth more than that in a weakened draft if we can get him right.
He's still only 24 and from what we've seen this year is still a strong performer when able.

but I'm not closed to the idea of trading him.

Re: Welcome back Nathan

If any player has yellow and black in the blood its Foley.

I don't want him to be traded, He has earnt the right to not be traded at years end IMO.

If he can get back to %95 then I would be keen to keep him. But gee Tooheys our trackrecord in getting people back from serious injury is not good. Although the handling of Chimp gives me hope on that front.

Do we have a long term outlook for Nathan? I don't think he will play the next month at least. The week by week line is growing thin and cannot be trusted.

Put him in cotton wool for 2011.
There's nothing to gain by playing him this year.

I think this will be the plan. However I do share the concerns of others that he'll end up chronic.
As we've seen with Cogs the game's not getting any slower and it waits for no one.

spot on TOO - with GC17 having 10 bonus picks, the second round basically becomes a normal third round. Foley is worth more than a 30+ pick.

Didn't he originally say he won't play in the 1st half of the year but then he did? How's that spot on?

Anyways, as someone already posted in the other thread Daly mentioned at a pre-match function that they're treating Foley's 2nd half of the season as his preseason for next year and he may need further surgery to do a bit of a clean up.

I would have thought it would be very hard to trade Foley on the basis that we know his injury best and if we’re trying to offload him other clubs would assume he must be stuffed

Re: Welcome back Nathan

With his current injury concerns we wouldn't get anywhere near what he is worth,so would be more upside to us keeping & hoping he gets over his injury problems & returns to top form.

Re: Welcome back Nathan

i am totally opposed to the idea of trading axel. how quick we forget that he is a gnuine A grader. get him right for 2011 onwards and let him enjoy the next 5-6 years playing in successful sides with him being a huge part of it
