Welcome back Nathan/Foley Update [Merged]

I thought Foley's contract expires this year and I have been told he is yet to re-sign.

Can someone confirm 100%?

That's why I asked. I thought the same.

It's my pleasure, as it has been in the past, to put an end to the endless Nathan Foley trade rumours. Nathan will be a Tiger next season.

Gee it would be nice if we could support a player who has given his all to get his body right for us rather than constantly trying to pawn him off.

Best wishes for a good pre-season and a Tigeriffic 2012 Nathan. :Clapping

Good stuff.

Was good for us this year and showed some glimpses of his very best which is elite.

If he can get back to his best it will go a long way to enhancing our success.

I reckon you would find it hard to find anyone who doesn't love or as a minimum respect Axel on this site.

but a lot of people know that if you go after a biggish type of player, then you have to give up a player who has value and has worth to other teams.

A lot of people I reckon, are open to the idea of trading a Foley type on from our list (we have hardly any of his value) if we want to try and get that elusive big fish everyone has been talking about.

I reckon all those posters saying we should look at trading Axel if the price was right, would still be just as happy if we kept him.

Well thats my position, and at a guess a lot of others to.

Edit - in saying that I reckon the Tiges will keep him anyway, unless other teams came asking.

Agree whole heartedly Rosy, but as was written in "Footy Inc" many years ago, the best clubmen and those of the greatest character are usually those the most likely to be traded..or something like that.

I too hope axel stays but can see that he has a heap of currency so crazy for the club not to at least look at potential offers.

The rumour about Nathan Foley was never that he wanted to leave or that we wanted him to leave it was that there had been an offer of big money from GWS even though he was contracted . That rumour has never been substantiated but it was never that we were trying to trade him out .
I do recall that Jon ralph reported that he had asked CC at the Richmond B&F about Foley and the answer he got was that we were trying to built our midfield not trade it out .
Whether there was an offer or not it appears that he is staying which as a Foley fan pleases me . I expect him to play a big part next year .

I'm also very happy to keep him. He is a real leader at our club and plays his best footy against the good teams.

There have been all sorts of rumours, including Nathan wants out, we want him out, too injury prone, he isn't happy etc with many hypothetical trade scenarios with other clubs thrown in. It seems an annual event to have trade Nathan rumours. Happy to know they are all piffle and Nathan is a very required Tiger.

Great news - not just for Nathan but the club too. I'm very confident his best years are ahead of him. Could be our version of Brent Harvey.

He was touch and go to make the first round this year, so it's not like he had a normal fitness base coming into 2011. In my eyes, i was hoping he could just play consistent footy in 2011 and he managed that.

With a full pre-season heading into 2012, hopefully we can see a return to those Nathan Foley dashes out of the centre, 2 bounces, goal!

So you know the rumour that GWS made an offer to Foley is piffle?

That misses the big picture. O'Meara is elite and will be hitting his prime as Foley slows down.

But CC probably doesn't see any point in telling Jon Ralph our trading strategy anyway. Players don't like being bait, especially rejected bait.

No-one who wanted to see this trade work was anti-Foley, just pro-O'Meara. Personally I didn't think Foley alone would shake the tree hard enough but I was prepared to find out.
