Welcome back Nathan/Foley Update [Merged]

Re: Welcome back Nathan

agree geez we realy missed him, i had also forgotten how quick he was. and his only 24 i think. perfect leader for our young mids.
his the player that can realy turn a game back in our favor with his clearance and tacking in the middle

Re: Welcome back Nathan

Very concerned about Nathan.

He missed Rd 10 although DH said in "all honesty he could have played" but despite him being ready they wouldn't take any chances and he'd be back in Rd 11, which he also ended up missing.

In regard to Rd 11 DH said “We’re going to give Nathan another week off. We think he’s over the worst of his ankle troubles so from our point-of-view we’ll give him another week off and he’ll play against West Coast the following week,”

This week he's missing Rd 12 with DH saying they just want to make sure he's right for the second half of the year.

Do those who claim inside knowledge know if Nathan has deteriorated since claims he could have played in Rd 10 or if he wasn't in fact ok to play despite the claims? I hope it's the latter. Is he training with the team?

Re: Welcome back Nathan

Perhaps hardwick has found out Foley wants to join the GC. ;D

Re: Welcome back Nathan

This has been at the fore of my thoughts since the teams were announced yesterday, Rosy. Just can't help think there is more to this. I'm praying Axel doesn't end up in Cogs' boat and this conservatism isn't a euphemism for chronic.

Re: Welcome back Nathan

Yes I agree, very concerning. Based on that comment from DH, perhaps Nathan will miss the Brisbane trip also? After that we have the week off.

During last weeks game, we were playing well and surging forward. A handpass was fired off to Tambling who got caught. A player like Foley might have been able to accelerate away instead, I really miss seeing him out there.

we have a good run home thanks goodness, Brisbane is our last road trip. Hope Foley gets out there soon

Re: Welcome back Nathan

So far mb64's little birdie has been right on the money reguarding Axel. :-\

Re: Welcome back Nathan

I think they want to manage him as carefully as possible. Hopefully if they take it easy on him this year, he can get himself 100% right, put in a full pre season and have a productive 2011.

Re: Welcome back Nathan

I'd say they are just taking the opportunity of playing kids in his place as they are going well.

I believe Hardwick and that Foley could play if he was really needed but just taking the opportunity to recover fully,

That handball came from King. It should never have gone to Tambling & said a lot more about King's dumbness than Bling's acceleration.

OK fair enough, I wasn't criticising Tambling, just saying we could do with some pace moving the ball inside 50

Re: Welcome back Nathan

I have a horrible feeling that Nathan may become trade bait at seasons end after his last 2 injury prone seasons...hope I'm wrong.

Geez lousie Timmy.

First the coaches love Nathan with Dimma calling him a foundation player who need to be treated well and cautiously.

Second, he had this injury at the back end of 09, wouldn't have been unavailable through injury for any more than ten games I'd say as he played at Cobuirg early rounds this year.

Thirdly our strength is in our star inside/outside mids in Martin and Cotchin. Foley is another top quality inside outside mid and you just dont trade those without very very good reason.

Why am I lousie?
Look, I said I had the feeling, I didn't say I wanted it to happen. With Cotchin, Martin, Deledio and probably a mid with the 4th ND pick combined with Nathans poor injury I just get the feeling that he may be "tradeable" for us to say, GC, for one of their top picks. Yes, you don't trade the likes of Foley away without a very good reason but maybe a top 10 pick is a good reason? Similar to the Jeff Hogg trade of '94, you have to give up something good to get something good. Again, I don't want it to happen...just get the feeling. Please read that.
