Week 1 AFL Finals Series

I think Collingwood have a great advantage in the finals this year thanks to Eagles loss. Get to play Cats at the G following a bye. Cant really see them loosing that one and then straight inot a prelim at the G....

the alternate to Brisbane flights is the Gold Coast : then Hire Car to Briz (100ks) .. if yr flush Uber it, or Uber to Varsity Lakes Station and get the train.. somewhat of a hassle but its cheaper ..

Done exactly that. Tickets sorted, flights sorted, car hire sorted. Now to book the golf and accommodation as well to round out a long weekend. First interstate trip to watch the Tigers. Excited.

Catman love your work but really have you not thought there may be an issue between playing home games at Kardinia Park and qualifying for finals and playing finals on the MCG and losing?

apparently ticket sales for Geelong v Collingwood have ran smoothly this morning. good news. figers crossed for us tomorrow.

Yep. We'll break the internet.

yeah right. there aren't 100,000 memberrs traveling north. 10,000 at most, plus maybe a few thousand more that live up north. As I have said previously, unless the AFL screw us with the ticket allocation, we all should be fine with getting tickets.

Lions' den formidable hurdle for Tigers
August 28, 2019 — 12.17pm

Richmond won't only be facing this year's Brisbane team when they head to the Gabba for a qualifying final on September 7 – they'll be facing history.
The Lions head into their first finals campaign since 2009 knowing they hold a perfect 10/10 record in finals matches at their home ground.
The Lions have won every final they've played at the Gabba, including their most recent effort, against Carlton in 2009.

The Tigers are one of those teams to fall victim to the Lions at the Gabba in September – beaten by 68 points in a 2001 preliminary final as Brisbane charged to the first premiership of their historic three-peat.
While that finals record was built largely on the back of that great team as well as a victory over Carlton in their most recent finals series in 2009, the Lions have made their home ground a fortress in 2019.

This year the Lions have won 10 at the Gabba with an Easter Thursday blip against Collingwood their only defeat in Brisbane.
Richmond will also be making their first trip away from their home ground since round 16, although they won three from five on the road in 2019.

Key defender Harris Andrews says while home advantage is a boost for the Lions, it won't be the only thing for the team to end a 13-game losing run against the Tigers.
"I don't think it changes anything at all to be honest with you," Andrews said.

"We're going to have to get our process right.
"They did a really good job on the weekend to beat us and there's some key learnings we'll take away from that game."
BRISBANE'S HOME FINALS RECORD
Played 10, won 10, lost none

2000 - Defeated Western Bulldogs
2001 - Defeated Port Adelaide and Richmond
2002 - Defeated Adelaide and Port Adelaide
2003 - Defeated Adelaide
2004 - Defeated St Kilda
2009 - Defeated Carlton

Because this is the same group of players that played in those finals

MCG 161 x 138 m
Gabba 156 x 138 m

Not much in it really , I had no idea its such a big ground , should suit us down to the ground in theory

the media are trying to push the "Gabbatoir angle," but I don't fear us playing there in the slightest. only one loss at home all season, but many of their home games have been tight results.
