Week 1 AFL Finals Series

I’m going up to the game on Saturday with the expectation that we will march on to the Prelim. Can’t wait to be there with plenty of Tigers I suspect

In 2016 there were less than a thousand. Wish they'd provide updated figures.

Since then, platinum has accrued members from 1993-95, so there might be a bit of a bump.
Early 90,s our membership total was just over 8,000. If 1,000 were platinum only 1 in 8 members maintained their membership for the next 25 years. In 95, membership jumped to 14,000. If 1 in 8 held firm for 25 years, looking at nearly 2,000 platinums now.
Memberships grew to 25,000 by 97, but stayed around that level until 2003. So maybe platinums will increase to 3,000 in the next couple of years then plateau until 2027.

Walls sacking/Gieschen plateau
last three years of Frawley
last three years of Wallace

Been a tough ride to platinum from there. Hopefully those turning platinum in 2037 will have had it easier.

Does anyone know whether there is an advantage in applying for a block of 4 seats together as opposed to 2 blocks of 2?

We're looking for the best category seats for 4 priority 1 members at both the mcg final and hopefully the grand final.

Logic says a block of 4 YT,

so I'd go 2X2

that is true, but it has been getting easier in the back end of the platinum period

if you were first a member in 1988, the next 25 years yielded 2 finals campaigns
if you were first a member in 1995, the next 25 years have yielded 8 finals campaigns

so you would expect a higher percentage of members to stay the course

If you're talking about the Grand Final and all 4 are Priority 1 I don't think it makes a difference. In 2017 tickets seemed scattered all over the ground with no rhyme or reason.

They do reserve the right to offer from the category you choose and lower so if it's within budget always select highest category.

2017 they actually changed the grand final guarantee wording from reserved seat to reserved ticket.

For sure! Despite downers like 2016, the Karmichael Hunt game, the Hafey game, three EF's, "worse than Fitzroy" etc etc, the Hardwick decade has been easy street in comparison for us supporters.

87-93 was worse than anything dished up in the 2000's.

How many Platinum members do we have ? - I am a gold member also and got the email today.

its pretty low as discussed above. the bigger issue is how many gold members you'll be balloted against. if the figure is 10,000 then you're probably looking at a 50% chance. But I have a feeling its higher than 10,000.

you have a guaranteed ticket, why would you split them? surely you'd prefer to celebrate together, irrespective of where you sit? the seat selction is random, so i don't think it'll affect the quality of your seat.

Onfield yeah. But without social media and the click bait press, it was a lot easier to deal with. These days it's 24x7 and it would really suck to be Melbourne, #lolNorf or Essendon.

We had just under 37,000 members in 2009. Probably a few thousand of them have fallen away and a few thousand are platinum or above. So if I was to guess it means there would probably be around 10-12,000 tickets for 28-30,000 gold members so the chances are probably around 30-40% for each individual gold member.

plus a lot of platinum and gold members may also have GF Guarantee (Priority 1), so odds a bit better than that? (I hope as a Gold member without GFG!)

Reckon you're way off. We have about 10,000 priority 1 members. About 2,000 priority 2 members. And i would guess 20,000-25,000 gold members.

Take away 2,000-3,000 gold and platinum members who are already priority 1, and remove about 10% gold members who won't apply for the ballot... and I reckon there will be about 5,000 tix for roughly 15,000-20,000 people. Or somewhere between a 25%-33% chance.
