Umpire farce - Getting worse by the minute!

Travis Boak just said (politely) that in his 18 years in the game he’s never been so “confused” about the HTB rule. Then Sam Doherty echoed that.

Ffs. The AFL just stuff everything and anything up with the rules due to their incessant tampering with them and their endless changes in interpretation of them.

They make the game way way harder to officiate than it really is. They’re the problem, the AFL.

But but, Laura Kane says we love the grey in the rules.......................................

No. The easiest way to reduce congestion is for the umpire to get the ball and just boot it in any direction.
It’s instant, it’s simple and players would be hurrying and scattering everywhere. All sorted.
Little *smile* like Razor Ray who can’t bounce the ball can kick it. He wouldn’t be part of the decision making because he’d be perving on how beautiful his kick was. The cheating *smile* wits we have now wouldn’t get to pay so many frees against us as the ball would bo on the move. And the idiots with whistles would be too busy brushing their product filled hair or giving their chromedomes a bit of turtle wax for the cameras.

He can do the same, don’t throw it. Just kick it towards the centre. Players would be running back, no groups, no congestion. All fixed.

Tell them to call me, or my manager.
The umps would kick it 50mtrs towards our opponents goals. Or through them.

Geez they’re full of *smile* the umpires and the AFL. Where was “judging the action” and not the intent when Warner kicked the ball into the grandstand in 2022 ?

These losers just make it up to suit…. from one instance to another.
Then there was the infamous ARC decision against us where one of the reasons for going against their own rule of going with the goal umpire’s call when there’s insufficient evidence to overrule it was judging by Lynch’s disappointed reaction.

Besides the blatant cheating by the umpires during a game, they just make it up to suit when put under any lense afterwards.

Zero respect.

Gold coast with the best free kick differential so far this year, thats right, the gameplan that dimma implemented at richmond, which was the reason for our terrible differential all these years, all of a sudden, becomes acceptable at gold coast, to the point where they have the best differential in the league. Seriously GAGF!!! What the *smile* is going on???!!!

Here we go Dave, just for you I dug Sundays Hun out of my recycle tub
Essendrugs 17 frees. D50 - 4 Mid - 8 F50 - 5
Richmond 14 frees. D50 - 3 Mid - 11 F50 - Ooooh look a big fat zero.

Interesting numbers, do they publish these the morning after each game or all of them on Monday?

Day after the games, there's a journo report on every game played with the usual who won, who starred, who got hurt etc. As well as champion data complete stat panels for both teams players, at the very bottom of the stats breakdown there's the ruck hit outs, the frees, inside 50's.
I know you won't agree Dave, but old mate Rupe n his crappy tabloid Hun is actually good for something after all.

My god, I thought I would try SEN again, I am listening to kermit and I swear he is more interested in how many words he uses and their intonation than what he is actually saying. Never heard a more insufferable bore. I have lasted all of 9 minutes after about 12 months of no listening. And now he has moron bore Hodge on sharing his wisdom.

Praising the AFL for acting swiftly on HTB.......FFS maybe if they just try applying the rules.

That guy is so full of himself it’s not funny.

And how’s the AFL yet again….despite all its posturing 24 hours ago….now doing a backflip…and telling the umpires to pay HTB quicker. ****unreal this joke of an organisation.

Not that it’s going to change the fact players will still continue to throw it or drop it in a tackle and that the moronic AFL and umpires will continue to call “play on”. And you can 150% guarantee that when we ping an opposition player for HTB, that too will still be called “play on”.

Wouldn't hold my breath that anything changes for the better.

A bit of deja vu all over again?

From 2022:

"The League wrote to all clubs on Monday, outlining that umpires will now be "less lenient towards players who have had prior opportunity and do not immediately and correctly dispose of the football"."

Yesterday:

"The AFL has instructed its umpires to immediately shorten the “reasonable time” component of holding the ball in a rare in-season rule change."

The administration department of the AFL is the most inept governing body I can recall.

And can someone explain the difference between a 'technical" free kick and a free kick? Why do commentators etc keep saying technically the free was there but it should not have been paid?

It’s going to be chaotic for this weeks games as the umpires will be whistling Dixie and all over the place with the new interpretation.

Wasn’t there an AFL mantra about not tweaking the rules mid season??

Well when so many current and former players are taking potshots at them, and the way the rules are adjudicated, the penny finally dropped.
Dillon starts off blaming the coaches for congestion, then does a u-turn.

What an incompetent organisation. Dillon off to a poor start. Kane totally out of her depth. The game has gone further backwards.
Coaches, players, club admin, members, supporters, tv viewers, umpires all pissed off for one reason or another.

“But the game is healthy” “club and afl memberships are up” “media rights money is booming”
afl head honchos keep fiddling the books to get your KPi’s and get your bonus money.
When does that other peanut Commissioner Goyder leave? HTF do these people keep getting these positions?
Clean the Commission out. Overhaul afl House staff and Admin. Drain the swamp!

“It’s our game”
