Umpire farce - Getting worse by the minute!

Been banging on about this for a while but one of the main reasons crowds are down is that the average supporter is feeling disenfranchised from the game due to the inane recent rule changes.

With umpiring like this at some point there is probably going to be an incident,
there should be

it's truly wrecking the game ... amateur and precious rule changes ... and the Dumps are confused ..

Did anyone happen to see that slo motion schemozzle with 2 geeling players on the mark just then? one of them, Hawkins, well over the Mark? 2 statues on the mark, neither player or the ump knowing what to do, within 2 metres of each other, for an eternity. Unbelievable. The most obvious MOM 50 all year. A cynic might say it was Hawkins so play on.

Cats not in it, without the umps.
The umpires decisions to choose the frees paid is influential.
They can choose to not see it, they can choose to see it.
They have shown nothing but inconsistency in relation to the 50s given all weekend. My call is by choice. The umps saw heaps of arms out, heard heaps of back chat but didn't pay it or did pay it.
I don't know the rules, the players don't know the rules and the umpires and afl don't know the rules.
Are there any rules?

As pointed out by many in twitter, in an attempt by the AFL to increase respect for umpires, the opposite has actually happened with respect at an all time low and with supporters of all teams in rare unison about the state of umpiring and the game

And the new one dissent/abuse/respect no one, the umpires, the players, the supporters, understand what it’s for. The reason? Because as usual the AFL have not trialled it, socialised it or clearly explained it to anyone. Relations between the umpires and the rest of the football community are at an all time low and the hierarchy of the AFL are entirely to blame for that.

Wow 16min mark 3rd qtr
Dawks v Pussies Shovkins launches himself to his left after a minor touch from Frost and you guessed it is paid free and then 50m resulting in a goal
No chance AFL will sight Shovkins for staging
Absolutely disgraceful umpiring
Even right before that at the boundary throw in Stanley pushes the Hawthorn ruckman squarely in the back. It's blatant.

and it ain't funny when a club asks a question and they get "no comment"

I am sick of dictators, wherever they operate

Ask the Hawks supporters especially if they lose if they will turn up again?
The crowd is shocking
What's the AFL excuse, everyone is at the beach??

great post.

I said in the Gillon thread, the 'media' can suck up to him all they like - he's done 2 great things in his time.
The broadcast deal. Getting the AFL through covid.

He, and his team, have left the game itself a mess - rules, umpires dept is now officially a disaster (lack of skill, umpire shortage, total confusion), grass roots, media who are rubbish.

Except when it’s Shovekins. He did it and it wasn’t paid, admittedly his opponent was already shooting from point blank range, but that shouldn’t matter.
