We rightly remember & revere the finals & premiership but I recall a goal at the SCG in 2015 that defied belief.

How lucky are we that Trent graced our club & brought such joy & success.

Go well in retirement.

Thanks for all the memories & selfless service.

There was the game against the Dogs in 2012 where he was untouchable, too. However one of my favourite moments was that hit he put on Mumford in the 2019 GF. It just typified the player and his attitude, and really set the tone for the game.

The move from I to we sums up Cotch to a tee. The sign of a real leader who draws out the leadership in others through genuine connection and care. I agree with Mini that RFC has probably seen its best leader ever

Its amazing isn't it. There's toughness & then there's true toughness.
Some people think toughness is going out & roughing other players up & hitting them etc. Trent's toughness was going hard at the ball & the player. He never shirked a contest, never complained about decisions or when he was targeted off the ball or in a contest, he just played to the absolute best of his ability.
He looked like a toff & played like a navvy. He was supremely skilled but tough.

I didn't think I'd see a better Captain than Royce Hart for our beloved Tigers, until Trent Cotchin came along.
He's the best Captain I've seen at Richmond & I've been watching footy since 1955

While it’s the natural progression for age to catch up with all players, it is time to celebrate Cotch’s career, influence, standards and the legacy he leaves.
It‘s also a sad time to farewell one of our clubs absolute champions. Not to see him out there on field galvanising his teammates by the example he sets will certainly make us feel a bit empty at times.
But life goes on, he will be missed, but how fortunate have we all been to see this bloke play for our club.

Thanks for your service and contribution, the games, the premierships, thanks for everything.
May life be kind to you and your family, no doubt success will walk hand in hand with you on life’s journey

A man born to lead the best footy club in the world. He has the respect of all within the AFL community for what he is, hard but fair of the field of play and a man to listen to and respect off the field. All class from start to finish and we are going to miss him. Happy retirement Tent

He didn't see that coming did he? I did enjoy that moment but his goal celebration in the dying moments of the match will stick in my mind forever

Dunno about the media but hes a bit of a selwood with the fans both champions who for one reason or another seem to rub people up the wrong way
They still harp about the ‘incident’ with Shiel and subsequent reaction from Williams.

People still can’t accept it was two footballers going for the ball and at the same time collide. Cotchin went lower, harder and Shiel came out second best .

Best team/club man in my time across the competition.

Can't recall a player giving his own game up for the benefit of the team such as did our Chimp. Once he did completely, the premierships flowed.

A paradoxical mix of tenderness/genuiness and toughness/strength (not a big man but demonstrated great physical strength on field). Perhaps perceived as enigmatic which may be a cause for the bond he shares with Dusty?

A template for any aspiring captains to emulate (good luck trying). Won't ever be replaced and therefore he will always remain a Richmond immortal.

Thanks for the memories Trent and all the best for your future endeavours.

Dear Trent,

Thank you for everything. To win 1 flag was unbelievable, to win 3 was incredible. Wishing you all the best you are a legend forever.

Cheers, I think I drank a million litres of booze watching the good times and the bad times. Thanks for the ride.

Great Player.

Great Leader.

3 time Premiership Captain, that is quite something, very few achieve this.

Yes, it is sad to see his career finish, but the timing is right.

Go well Trent, and thanks.

His best mate before being drafted was Matthew Kreuzer ( who ended up going No 1 draft pick to Carlton). Kreuzer unlucky over his career but we struck the paydirt with pick 2.

Got to love Trent, his own man well before 2017, ditched 17 to go back to 9,
( one of his best statements against contrived nonsense imo) and became one of the best on field players and leaders for Richmond in my life,
( I'm 66 yo), Trent is up there in the stellar space occupied perhaps only with Royce.

Boy, do we owe this guy something that defies how it can ever be repaid.

I heard Royce interviewed, (as a broken down physical wreck) and he said he wouldn't change anything, the premierships were and still meant everything.

I know Trent would think the same.
Can only hope massive good luck for him, his post footy career and family.

Hopefully another Trent won't take too long to pass our way again.

I didn’t realise but cotch must be the all time best player to only have ONE AA in the locker.

The AFL fools had no idea the jewel we had in our team - but we all knew.

What an all time Tiger champ and an absolute modern day great of the game.

Sort of see why he was never really in the best midfielders in the league but could always be counted on in the big games

If I was asked which player was most responsible for the Richmond dynasty triple:
1st T Cotchin
2nd J Reiwoldt
3rd D Martin.
So many equal 4th D Grimes, T Nankervis, D Prestia S Edwards and the list does go on.

And as for the Kreuzer Cup, sliding doors?

Trent Cotchin- the definitive Richmond Man.
