Trent Cotchin (Merged)

Best speech was with the club where even the little future legend looked a bit sad.

People will mention their favourite Cotchin moment in coming days so I will get in early.

There are a lot but the one for me that typifies what he brought through the flag years was the tackle on Stanley that led to Prestia's pass to Lynch and the goal straight after halftime in the 2019 prelim. The crowd was still seething from Dangerfield's dive and the 50 metre penalty at the end of the first half. That tackle said to the players and the supporters that we weren't lying down.

I love that moment and have watched it over and over. It had leadership all over it

A legend in all aspects. His legacy will live on as he was a catalyst in who we are as a club today.

There's plenty, first to mind was the slam tackle on big, tough, scary mummy in the first Q of the 19 flag. Game hard fought and still in the balance at that point, started to turn our way after that.

Sad to see him go but the timing is perfect. There are so many moving parts in a footy club but his leadership was huge in us winning the three cups. I will miss you Trent, thanks for everything, it's been a fantastic journey and one I will always cherish

Such a shame they video those things and make them public now I reckon.

Reduced what used to be the best moments in footy to cliches and performance.

agree

The speech was boring as hell, just a word salad of nothing really

Regardless, Trent is a Richmond immortal, the greatest leader I have ever seen wear a richmond jumper

I suppose the player gives consent first as I don't remember every player allowing it. As a supporter I like it because I want to see the teammates expressions. I still think Bash's one had the funniest intro: "just signed a 3 year deal boys" :mhihi

I watched the video of his speech to the players and others and it was a privilege to be able to watch it.

Thanks for everything Trent, the most important was the care and guidance you gave Dusty when he needed it most, without that there's no :cupgold :cupgold :cupgold

Will never forget Cotch ferocious attack at the footy throwing his body at every contest
My favourite was playing the Giants in prelim final and winning the ball against Shiel
Winning a Brownlow medal and :cupgold:cupgold:cupgold
