Trent Cotchin (Merged)

Remember a quote I read somewhere about his juniors, elite u14s or u16s. They took him off so other players could get a kick.

Triple Premiership Richmond Captain, think about it. He Captained the Mighty Tigers in 3 Grand Finals, for 3 wins, no losses. Increased our flag tally won in our entire 125 history by 30%.

If I was asked which player was most responsible for the Richmond dynasty triple:
1st T Cotchin
2nd J Reiwoldt
3rd D Martin.
So many equal 4th D Grimes, T Nankervis, D Prestia S Edwards and the list does go on.

And as for the Kreuzer Cup, sliding doors?

Trent Cotchin- the definitive Richmond Man.
Dont forget Ivan Maric who started the culture change that Cotchie enforced and continued !

Au, contraire, Lambie.

I think it was former Captain Chris Newman that started the culture shift/rebuild back in the dark days!
Pretty sure that is correct!

Two things from this:
1. I might get a lift with Dan up the Princes Hwy to the game next week (didnt know he was a Tiges man)
2. *smile* me. Gee I hope Cotch never enters politics as a Lib!
Surely not - he’s too honest to be a pollie (of any persuasion)

Pretty *smile* poor from the afl record this round. A 1 page feature on shuey’s retirement. A 4 page feature on ziebell and cunningtons retirement plus a cover on ziebell. And a small combined article, maybe 7 paragraphs on a combined story on Cotchin’s and Smiths retirement in the game day section :mad::mad:

Think Ivan brought in the idea of “sweep the shed” mentality.
Yup, which I believe he got from the All Blacks mentality and culture detailed in a book titled "Legacy". I'm fairly certain he and a few of our leaders were encouraged to read the book at the time.
