Interesting Mini praising Callan Ward for beating Bont. Cotch and Ward are 3 days apart in age.

Why have our older players fallen off a cliff Cotchin Riewodlt Grimes Sony Brown while Walker Hawkins Gawn Ellis still playing at a high standard.
Cotch and Riewodlt at least they know they are cooked, whats with Grimes asking to play on. Let him play on with Mt Macedon 3rds
It’s the weight of all that silverware our boys have won. Shortens careers.

Too many around here are death riding the careers of our champions. The contributions of Cotchin and Riewoldt etc go far beyond what they do on the field. They know what it takes to succeed at the highest level. They also know how hard it is to lift a club up from mediocrity and how easy it is to slip back down into it. Look at recent examples like North and even Hawthorn. Couldn’t get rid of their aging stars quick enough and both have been mired in mediocrity ever since.

When the likes of Cotchin go, it will leave a massive, massive hole that will take years to fill.

The great Cotch is cooked. But I couldn't help think half way through the first quarter last night that we needed a "Cotchin act". A desperate smoother or brilliant tackle or just diving on the ball and moving it forward. He is the greatest momentum turner we have ever seen. The tackle on Stanley vs Geelong Prelim final 2019 is exhibit A. But there has been hundreds. Even in his 300th, the 50 m goal in the first was the momentum changer. Unfortunately there may not be anymore left.

We need a new Cotchin...its sad!

Reported Cotchin joining Selwood on a Channel 7 finals footy show to be shown mid week.

Does that imply we are 100% not playing finals (for me 99% sure) and Cotch will retire in the coming weeks as implied in the article.

Rumours floating around that Trent has told people that he is retiring.
I hope he does retire at the end of the season, he has been an absolute warrior. Changing, and sacrificing his game has taken a toll, reckon he might've been able to get another year or two if he hadn't used his body as a battering ram.

Thankyou from the bottom of my heart Trent. The embodiment of the Richmond man, the selfless leader, the head of the table. The greatest captain of all time for this great footy club.

Oh today is a heavy, heavy day. We all knew it would come, but I still feel shocked and saddened that this is the last we'll see of Trent Cotchin.
I jumped on board early, and was his first ever player sponsor. Not that I knew him well, but the few times I met him he struck me as mature, selfless and interested. He wanted to know about you, not the other way round.
He said at one of the Player Sponsor dinners, he dreamed of winning a GF for the Tigers, because he wanted to hear the sound of our roar when the cup was lifted. He half joked that if he could do that, he'd probably retire as he wouldn't be able to experience anything like it again.
Well, he did get his dream. Luckily he didn't retire, and got to lift the cup twice more (alas one in Brisbane).
We were blessed to have him. If the sliding doors had seen Carlton take Cotch, we'd have taken Kreuzer. Thank God they screwed that up. Everything right now would be different.

Enjoy your retirement skip. From one very contented Tiger. You're absence around the club will be missed massively.

His is on field performance had declined recently so it was the right time to step away from the game. However we'll miss him dearly as a leader of our club. I often found myself referring to him as "skip" even after he'd stepped down.

You don't get much better footballing CVs than triple premierships captain and a brownlow medalist. Thanks for your services Trent and hoping to see you still involved with the club in some capacity going forwards.
